Well, assuming no one comes to my rescue in CO or Wyoming...I might just be running on 3cyl till then.

Called Cheyenne's dealer. I am going to drop my truck off with them at night on Wed or Thurs and have them look at it. Keep your fingers crossed they honor the warranty.

I am just going to plan on that . I lost hope in the dealers a long time ago but I assumed they would at the very least honor the engines warranty. Looks like I have till summer to plan which engine is going in BabyT.

Hey @Blackdawg, since you are a supra nut. A 2jz gte would bolt up to my w59, ya? If I sourced and sent out an extra engine harness while waiting for my truck to either get fixed or die...do you think a swap would be pretty easy?

I know my tranny wouldn't hold up to the 2jz for long...especially with performance accessories but it could last until I can get a better tranny/custom driveshaft with modest driving?

Just thinking out loud since these 2tr-fe engines are stupid expensive for what they are...

No that is a much more involved swap.

Custom motor mounts, tranny mount needs moved and drive shafts changed too.

    Then routing the intercooler

I'm not totally sure if the w59 will bolt to a w58 bell housing, which I actually don't think bolts to a 2jz. The w58 was used with the 7mge/1/2jzge the non tubro straigh six motor from supras. But Id bet it would. But if it didn't you have to swap to an R150f.

Then yea you'd want a engine harness and ECU and motor. Which is a lot of money..a redone harness with obd2 integration is 1400 a lone. And you're banking on finding a nice motor in good shape.

You're look at 4-6 grand when it's all said and done easily.

Not exactly the cheapest route..haha be freaking sweet though. But that's a long term swap over a month I bet at least.

I am at 3 grand minimum right now with replacing my current engine that doesn't impress me the slightest. If I want to have the ability to pass cars I would have to drop 5k alone to supercharge it which only bumps me up to 250 rwhp. Pretty sure the 2jz is making more than that stock. I don't want to leave college with debt but leaving with <5k isn't exactly a deal breaker (Probably would have everything paid off anyways).

I am likely to have a harley this summer. Not sure when but I will be able to ride that while the truck is down.

Not to mention the 2tr-fe in my engine is not dead. Once out I feel comfortable enough to rebuild and sell it. Get some cost back...

Well go for it man. But after you invest in the tools to do it you'll be closer to 10k I bet haha

Not really the swap Id go for if you're trying to stay under 5k.

Especially considering a motor that you buy could be not good. And trust me, 2jz parts are fucking stupid expensive.

I can commit to helping you do that. Too big a project. Id have to charge you labor and I will be strapped for time as it is.

A stock 2jz depending on the year you get and such makes anywhere from 280-310hp. You'd want the VVTI one so you'd end up on the 300 side. But that is also the most expensive 2jz.

If you need to swap to the r150f, and you'd need an r154 bell housing..that's another grand right there almost haha

If you where worried about doing a v6 swap cascading into a super expensive project...this...this is not the way to go. Haha it'll be the most expensive option you've thought of so far. No way will it be <5k. A 2jz is almost 3.5k alone. It'll be well over 5k Id bet

And Damn. 3k for a new 4banger? Sheesh.

@BabyTaco Maybe it is time to find a 3rd or 4th generation 4Runner with a few more miles and swap over parts of your baby taco? (I don't know if that would work but seems like it should) I bet you could find a high miles 4Runner for ~$6,500.

I would never expect to receive someone's time for free @Blackdawg.

The truck will not be sold. I have no problem buying a stock cheapo DD and parking babyt until I can get her straight.

Have you given any thought to pulling the motor and honing the cylinder/replace the rings? If the front diff was removed you could prolly do this in the truck.

Yep, main issue with that is finding a place I can do it. It might possibly be an option in the summer if my roommates leave and the house owner is ok with it. I wish I knew someone with a nice shop that has some space to do this. It would be easier for me to buy the new engine, swap it in, and then rebuild the old one at some point and sell it.

I'd just repair it with new piston rings. Cheapest and easiest

Cheap and easy with the proper tools/space...none of which I have .

Leaving for the dealer in an hour or so. I cleaned everything except the hose in the fender. The air intake box is now all scratched up . I doubt they will take it in but its worth trying.

well..all you need tool wise id guess is a motor jack and stand...bet you can find that on CL for cheapish.

Just hand tools from there. You'd need a torque wrench too. Then just take block to an engine shop and ask them to hone it. Bring the pistons and rings to match the hone and then put it back together.

Not a 1st project type thing, but if you have a local friend that has done motors before should be good.

hopefully the dealer just takes the bastard haha

Nope. I was joking with Lizzy about how TW members are probably the best friends I have as they always seem to come through when I am having trouble. I had two friends offer to help turn a wrench but neither have any knowledge what so ever.
