There's a few non yotas I run with who use HAM. Just curious on here. I will be installing my cb soon but I'm still shopping for a HAM to run as well. Just need to find a location I can be happy with for the cb. Too damn picky so far.

I did a big multi day trip last year and our whole group went and got the $35 bofang hand held UHF/VHF (ham sandwich) radios and they worked about as good as a ham sandwich... The guys who had the most success had big long antennas attached to their hand held which made it awkward. If you go HAM you need to spend money to do it right. I have had much better luck with a decent CB radio. They can go pretty far when setup right.

I've got the bofang with zero issues. There's a few in the group. It's only a 4 watt vs mounted 400 watt. I do want to get a nice mounted dual band at some point. Lots of benefits.

Go out and use it a bit. Mine worked good in town but then when we hit the trail it was a different story. Not a bad radio, just wouldn't be my plan A.

I does good in the Puerco, Quemado, Butte, Pecos, Mt. Taylor from San Y Sedro and in the Sandias. It's just a 4 watt so of course range is limited to around 1-2 miles but in a group that should be plenty. I still want to upgrade to a nice quality mounted unit.

This is true. You need a decent mag mount antenna and a decent radio but then it will have excellent range. Back in October I did a trip to the Maze District with a buddy and the ham radio range was easily10 miles + with excellent clarity. The license exam is easy with a couple of hours of study.

    This is what I have:

    http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-010078

    and the antenna

    http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-005819

I only mount the radio in the truck on off-road trips. I have not had good luck with CB.

Well it sounds like you guys know way more than I do about radios. I just know I read a lot about them before we did the Mojave Road last year and our whole group bought the Boafangs to use. We spent more time than I would have liked trying to get them to work right and I was having a lot of battery issues. Could have easily been user error as a lot of us were newbies with them...

    What's up everyone?
Just thought I'd share this and see if anyone world be interested...
I've started production on my engine table/ furniture business. I'm trying to come across a Tacoma block for a table but since Tacomas last forever I'm not having any luck. Ford and Chevys are much easier to come by.

Any of you guys need a phone case for iPhone 6? I got a Camo life proof and lime green case that is sitting around. Lookin to get 35 for it. And an otterbox defender that I'm looking to get 20 for. I'm going to post it in the nm sale thread as well. I just didn't know if everyone here was subbed there or not.

Not in the section where my camper was. Saw the video monitor in the office but did not ask if it covered that section.
Said never happened before so security was lax.

This is what I suspect but have no way to confirm. About two years ago Myers RV had a sale on these travel trailers and sold a lot.
My theory is someone else who had one had it stolen, mine was spotted in the lot and either wanted to replace theirs or thought it was the one stolen.
Several other trailers about same size as mine but mine is the one taken.

Anyone have a 285/70-17 sitting around they want to sell? I want to bump my spare up to a matching size and don't really want a new tire at this point...
