i only use my cb around you guys, and for the PA function, so i thought mine was broken, but it was the mic, so instead of buying a new $12 mic or $40 radio, opened up the plug and resoldered it, works good as new

 

No it doesn't, no secret truck stuff. Haha
At least she's not the last to know. Haha

@Taco No Baka @Rattletrap66 my meter on the cb says ch1 is 1.5 check 40 is 2.5. This is right almost in the garage. Picked up a couple people talking at loves which is about a mile away. Going to check it out later when I go to a open field

 

Timbo, use a standalone meter. The built in meters are a sales gimmick.

@Timbo89 I copied this off rightchannelradios.com , according to this your antenna is too long but I like what @ckeene9 said check it with a separate meter.

If the SWR on channel 40 is higher than that on channel 1, your antenna is too long.If the SWR on channel 1 is higher than that on channel 40, your antenna is too short.

If your antenna is too long, it is necessary to reduce its physical length. There are several methods for shortening an antenna which vary by manufacturer. Consult your owner’s manual for detailed instructions on how to shorten your antenna. While many antennas feature a “tunable tip” that uses a small screw, some antennas may need to be cut to be shortened. Do so in 1/4" increments and then get new readings to determine your progress.

 

Get a legitimate reading before adjusting your antenna though. Out in the open with separate meter.

Picked up some stuff on ch5. All Spanish and they were talking about someone being a ass hole or ass hahah.

 

for quite a bit more, funniest thing I have picked up was someone saying four wheeler riders are stupid and shouldn't be on the road causing accidents. the conversation went on for a while but what they were saying was too funny
