    I am an idoit! First time changing oil on my 06 tacoma and not paying attention. Pulled the tranny drain plug instead of the oil !! So now i have an empty transmission, no big deal but how the hell do you put new fluid back in it?? Can not find a dipstick or fill or anything??? PLEASE HELP!!

    Welcome to TW! Sorry it is on such unflattering terms. However, you are definitely not the first person to do this. The tranny is serviced at the dealership. If there is a way to refill that I am not aware of, someone will be here soon...

    Glad to know i am not alone, but of anyone that has done this how can i fix it? I got a truck with a drained tranny sittin half way out of the garage!! I am pretty upset with myself right now

    Sorry guys not really following along here. So there is a FILL opening on the passanger side of tranny and i open the CHECK plug and fill it up in the FILL opening unitll it runs out the CHECK opening?? Is this correct?? And do i do this with the truck running of off. And do i need to buy ATF from toyota or can i get ATF from local auto store??

    Yes, you have to use toyota genuine ATF WS.

    Remove the refill plug and overflow plug. Fill until fluid trickles out the overflow tube.

    I have not done this so take what I say with a grain of salt...but it sounds like you have the right idea. Except that the truck needs to be running and the trans fluid needs to be at the proper temp to get an accurate check.

    So guess my truck is out of service untill the dealer opens back up on monday. SH!T..!!! I feel like such a jacka$$.. I sure hope all goes well and i dont have any problems with my tranny now..:confused:

    After reading about this on here and other forums if I was you I'd call a tow truck and have it serviced at the dealership....getting the fluid back in is kind of a complicated process on these sealed units. Also, from what I've read you want to go with the fluid Toyota recommends...good luck.

    How many of you guys have done this accidentally and how many have fixxed it no problems? I am not sure i know where this FILL plug is after crawling back under it and am getting a little nervous but cant exactly afford to visit the dealership either:mad:

    it was make this knock ping noise from the engine.
    i got a reply from an other person here say it is bad...
    then how do I fix it? and cheap? thanks!
