Why do these trucks take forever to warm up?

I drove my friends car to work this morning (05 accord) and the car warmed up before I even got out of the neighborhood.

The taco usually doesnt warm up for a while.

I'm asking because the weather is getting cold and I hate waiting, lol

 

This is my first truck. I am fairly certain that my taco warms up quicker than my cars used to...

 

the clutch fan on our trucks is always turning whenever the engine is on

 

My truck warms up very quick. I would say it is warm by a mile at most

 

So you're asking about the cabin temperature? My truck warms up fast. A lot faster than my old Matrix and even faster than the 2 Mustangs I had before that.

I usually turn the dial to where the heat blows on my feet. I figure since heat rises, it would be the best way to warm up the quickest.

 

It warms up a lot faster than my s-10 and a whole hell of a lot faster than my 1982 datsun pickup

 

Just do about 30mph in 1st and it'll warm up quick.

Jk, don't do that. Atleast not until you're at normal operating temp.

 

Same here, it warms up quick IMO.

 

I always start the truck 5-10 minutes before leaving (with no HVAC on) that way she's already up to temp when i hop in.

 

Not to sound like a jerk but most of you that commented live in warm climate areas. I agree with the OP and think my truck takes a long time to warm up (at least it does in my area). My wife has a '03 Ford and it warms up in less than half the time it takes my truck.

 

It was 37 here last night when I started my truck after it sat for 6 hours. I'm from NJ, I know plenty about cold weather.

 

My '06 warms up pretty quick. At -2 it warms up within a couple of mins.

 

It warms up a lot faster than my old 93 z71, that is for sure. My new Taco gets a nice cozy garage spot though.

 

newer cars have electric fans that cycle on and off when the car gets warm, our trucks have a clutch fan that is always rotating keeping it cool. i use to own a dakota that took waaaaay longer to warm up and i am very pleased on how fast my tacoma warms up in chilly central illinois

 

My truck warms up decently in cold weather, but I think the coldest it's ever got here is like 20*

 

I've had all different kinds of vehicles. It seems that the smaller the motor, the faster it warms up. Last I checked, a Honda Accord has a smaller motor that the Tacoma (if you've got the V6). I think the Tacoma warms up much quicker than most cars, but that's my opinion, especially when I'm getting called out for work at 3am and it's 30 degrees.

 

which issue are we talking about here?
time for the vents to blow hot air?
time for the cab to become warm?

i think it takes a long time to get hot air which isnt necessarily a bad thing. it just means there isnt a ton of waste heat coming from the engine.
my friends chevy 3500 one ton heats up so fast it cracked his windshield last winter when he turned on the heat. and this was immediately after he started it

as for heating up the cab, mine takes a fairly standard amount of time compared to my dads corolla but since mines a reg cab, id guess it should be faster. although i have the two rubber grommets removed to run wires which ive never sealed......

 

I do not live in a warm climate at all. My truck warms up rather quickly. No complaints here.
