Have you noticed any difference after removing the charcoal filter?

Was wondering about any HP or fuel economy gains. From what I have heard all it does is make more noise.

    Thanks.
I work with a guy who had a Tundra. He was telling me and another guy at work to take it out. Stating that the fuel economy and HP will jump up. I didn't really believe him and have found no evidence that it makes a big difference. Thanks.

I meant for the list of reasons for considering even messing with changing the intake/filter. I can see other people's truck types and that this thread is in 3rd gen section. The possible reasons/results won't be any different, just part numbers..........

:) yeah, just screwin with ya man. Totally agree, seems to make no difference at all.

I had a Volant CAI on my 2011 v6 sport and loved what it did to the exhaust sound wise
and gave it a bit of low end too. Just have to wait it out and see what guys like URD are up to.

    Got my AFE filter in.

    I used a 2014 Tundra 5.7l filter. Fit perfect.

thoughts on it if any? I may be selling mine if URD comes
up with a CAI for this engine and I like what it offers.

:D dats the one! I'm surprised for what it is that it's taking
this long for someone to release one.

If you have a v6 2016 Tacoma, putting a hole on the bottom of your stock air box will just add a bunch of hot air to the engine. These mods may work on some years and models but certainly not on a 2016 sport. A simple glimpse does the trick - it doesn't take a genius to locate the air source. You may want to consider that opening additional air sources or not properly diffusing forced air into a stock intake can lead to ragged driving and check engine lights. MAF sensors sometimes fight back.

A cold air intake DOES make a difference, regardless of those who have zero experience and just post nonsense. If you have a 4cyl truck (where in the truck world seems like a crime of power loss), nothing but a s/c is going to give you any marketable power. Is dropping 4 large to gain around 2-5% on a naturally aspirated engine and having a smoother driving truck worth it? - opinions do certainly apply.

Someone else mentioned that swapping out the catback exhaust wouldn't sound good or make a difference, well I ACTUALLY bought, installed and have driven with a magnaflow exhaust on the truck for 600 miles now. Magnaflo exhaust sounds great and helped greatly with mid range response. Blanket statements from "experts" who haven't actually used the part are all over these forums...annoying. I suggest if you are going to decide on a performance part, forums are honestly not the best place to get subjective opinions. Lot of smart people here, just hard to weed them out.

Are there any Cai's that are plug and play with the new 3rd gen ? I have seen two choices from k&n on auto anything but I highly dought it fits right in. I know some guys on here have gone with the new AFE Cai but for a pretty penny. Also does anyone have any advice on how Cai's hold up against off roading, water, dirt ect.

I don't think anyone has gone for anything yet. I don't think there is one
available until at least Aug. for the the new Gen.
