Bullet Proof Fab Skid

Nice! Mine had the wrap, but not the cardboard edges. Also, my tow hook was either not wrapped or came out of the wrapping in shipping... Maybe that's what made mine look like it went through a grinder.

All is well now! I put 3 coats of bedliner on it and it looks great. Better even.

I have a cool install day ahead tomorrow. Skid, tow hook, sill protectors, and mud guards! I hope to get pics up tomorrow.

 

just got mine in today. hopefully it held up well shipping. small scratches wont bother me any but if there's chunks of powdercoat missing, id be a little bummed

 

Post up some pics, if you guys don't mind, once you have installed them. I will definitely do the same when I put mine on. If all goes well, it's getting done tomorrow afternoon.

 

Why does everything have to turn into a shit show slam fest when someone posts about an experience of concern. If you buy something NEW it should be in NEW condition period....

I bet if one of you that bought something NEW and the condition was less than NEW when you received it you would be pissed as well.

 

Okay! Skid installed. It was a lil tough doing it by myself, but doable! Lining up one of the spacers/front bolts was a real bitch. It looks great. It definitely needed the bed liner spray to keep it from rusting in the next couple months. The bed liner looks better anyways.

Overall, I'm happy with the way it looks. I still think it was shipped to me in bad condition, but it was nothing I could fix myself.

Just got mine today…box it came in was destroyed, took a pic of one of the corners, the other 2 were similar. The skid looks awesome!, and love the bullet pen…but my spacers are identical (suppose to be different)…and I have a bracket Im not sure what to dowith lol.

 

DANG! That's a messed up looking box for sure. Was the skid dinged at all or anything like that?

And that bracket is the heavy duty tow hook. It replaced the stock one. When you look under there, you'll see something similar, but smaller and weaker looking, bolted down with two bolts. There are three bolts there already but two are being used. Unscrew the three, take off the stock hook and put the new BETTER one on! Then you just have to buy a shackle to put on there, and all set to go!

I really have to put up pics of mine, since I did it last weekend. Always forget and then run out of daylight to do it.

AH HA! That explains why you weren't sure what that bracket was. And glad to hear the skid was perfect. Make sure you don't be like me, and post pics once you get your truck and install it!

 

Pardon me for asking but why is there a much larger gap on the drivers side?

 

I think it has to do with the spacer that comes with the plate, on the bolt, for mounting. Mine has the same issue. One spacer is a bit shorter than the other it seemed like to me. Guess which one... Passenger's side. I think that's why.

 

I can only assume it's due to the spacers as was already said. As stated earlier, this skid does the trick, but if I were to do it all over again... I'd look else where.

 

I thought the different sized spacers allow it to fit perfect. I've seen others with the skid on and it looked even on both sides. For how much flak skids like this get, I'm pretty impressed...I can jump on it without worrying it will dent...seems pretty solid to me...well at least solid enough

This brings up a whole different issue that I haven't even brought up because I got so much flak for the criticism I've already given. The instructions (that I didn't get with the skid) said that the spacers were different sizes and one would be marked "D" and "P". Driver and Passenger respectively. Well, both my spacers were the same size and had no markings what so ever.

But what I've gotten from reading is that it's okay, because it's a skid and skids are made to get fucked up... so they manufacturer can suck at making them and shipping them.

I'm done complaining about this thing. It's on the truck and it isn't coming off. I'm glad I have it, wouldn't buy it again.
