Actually you may be cool without a tent and just using a tarp.

Tarp camping is awesome if you don't mind the exposure, they weigh practically nothing compared to a free standing tent.

Not if you're 6'7" and 280 lbs. :pout:

    That'd be an enormous hammock.

I suppose turning it into a sex swing would work but my ass would get cold.

Definitely. The foam does a MUCH better job of holding your body heat than the inflatable does.

Two pads for me. One inflatable for summer, one foam to put under it in cold. Which is rare, because I'm a wuss. Ha

Anyone have any suggestion for a nice backpacking trip during presidents day weekend? I have a 4 day weekend during that time. I'm located in Orange County, CA and am looking at maybe 4-5hrs max drive.

I'm in Inland Empire and did Sequoia National Park last weekend. It was perfect weather wise (other than getting rained out the last morning).

Lots of good, easy hikes around the trees and in the snow.

What trail did you do? Since there is snow now, I'm guessing you are allowed campfires? I haven't been back to Sequoia for a long time.

Were you guys car camping or backpacking? Seems that only the lower elevation campsites are open. I'm not sure what spots are good for backpacking.

Nacimientos Mill Creek area. Campfires are okay but there's a permit required this time of year. I think after april you can't burn
