After rolling my Mazda CX5 sunday night (and walking away virtually unscathed), I decided to replace it with a truck. I see that the Tacoma is newly redesigned and thought it looked great. My wife isn't so keen on me getting a truck due to the gas mileage. Does anyone get near the 18/23 advertised? I don't think that's too bad. My CX5 averaged 24.8 mpg combined. I'd hate to buy it and find out i'm only getting 15mpg.

Have dealers looking for a blue one but they seem to be hard to find.

I also read some bad reviews on Edmunds that said the transmission seems to have some issues and wondered if it was worth the risk of a new model design. They also said it was underpowered compared to the older ones. I'm guessing a smaller engine to bump the gas mileage up.

Any thoughts/advice? Trying to keep the price in the low 30s.

19mpg mixed during the first 800 miles with my new Limited 4x4 and expect it to improve when it breaks in. I was getting 24-26mpg driving same routes with 2007 Solara convertible so I'm happy with the Tacoma.

I have 8300 miles on my TRD OR 4X4 AUTO. I average about 16 mph at 95% highway. Here in Texas posted speed is 75 mph; if I travel at 60 mph, I can sometimes hit 18 mpg.

I'm at around 1157 miles right now and I do my best to stay at 55 in 60 mph zones via cruise control and obey all other speed limits below that. I never had a car with an mpg function in the DIC. So i'm all about efficiency right now. Daily driving is 70/30 Hw/Cty. Best part is the 3.5 V6 reports back to me 23.9 mpg. The irony is my previous car got 12 mpg when gasoline was $4/gal and now that it is $1.65/gal it goes 2x farther.

The problem with asking for mpg info on this forum is so many trucks here are not stock. Lifts and tires don't help mpgs. You're probably looking at an sr5 4x4 in that price range.

I'm getting 16-17 mpg on my 2016 limited but I have fun when I drive. I can squeeze out 19 in the city if I really baby it but it's not really worth it for me. The truck drives very smooth and quietly. Great handling for a truck. And interior is nicer then my fiancé's 2014 Lexus ct.

I realize this is 3rd gen forum, but to give comparison to 2nd gen, knocked down 22.5-23 running 80-85 down the highway on recent road trip in my 2015 DCSB 4.0 Auto Stock PeeRunner recently.

I'm not sure of your rational of swapping a CUV for a truck after a rollover, the truck will have a higher center of gravity and may be more prone to tipping but it's your choice.

Best thing to do is take one for a test drive and see if you like it as its not going to drive and handle like your CX5.

Wow! When I was in the army you were only allowed one. Must be multiculturalism or something.
