Don't take no for an answer on it. It will drive the price way up, but your argument is, its not your fault he. Wrecked your truck. You want it factory like it was before.

The thing I didn't understand is when he told me that the wheel sustained no damage...yet it took all the impact when I hit him.
How can the wheel be undamaged and the suspension has to be replaced !? Am I missing something ?

Man that sucks, great looking truck !! My friend was in the same situation but with a 2014 Chevy 2500 LTZ, took it to dealer for estimate and dealer fought for as much as possible with ins company and he ended up trading truck plus ins check and had new truck in about a week. Dealer gave him a real good deal because not only did they sell a truck but got the repair job. Maybe something to check into. My friend did get a pretty good deal but he buys 4-6 trucks a year for his business. Good luck man.

Funny you say that...I insisted to send it to a reputable shop..actually, where I purchased my truck, a Toyota dealership. I'm starting to have second thoughts for sending it there after he mentioned to me about the wheel sustaining no damage..

Was that the amount after tear down? Fender removed and bumper removed? Doesn't sound like a complete estimate if it's still a preliminary.

My uncle took his vehicle to a dealer, one with a fair reputation, but. The. Body repairs were unsatisfactory to him. They are honest, but like he said a good bodyman is an artist with vehicles

Apparently so..the reason he told me it was preliminary was for the sensor lights in the dash being on..told me they'd need to run more tests and see if they need replacement...and of course, the unexpected parts needing replacement. Told me he'd get back to me on Monday with a final quote.

Probably would have damaged your truck more. Yes it may have protected your linkage and steering components on that wheel better, but it would have sent more of the force into your frame. It would have exaggerated the damage you can see related to the frame posibly making it past the point of repair.

You're probably right. But you know what, I almost wish I had one..they'd have totalled it. I could have got a brand new truck. Now, I'm the one stucked with a damaged truck with a much lesser value even if I'm not at fault.

Ok so get this, legally, if you want to put in the effort, you can fight for a cash sum to compensate for the market value depreciation of your vehicle due to the accident. We had to do that to my mothers vehicle one time. The paid for the repair on the vehicle and then gave her a chck for the estimated value depreciation of the vehicle. I dont know the amount of work that went into that but it may be something to chase since the other driver caused the wreck.

Do I want to put in the effort ? You bet !! Now in Ontario with the "no fault", do you think I could still pursue this avenue ? And if yes, I assume my broker/ins. would have to go after his ins. !?

Again im not sure how it works but i know its possible. And i know technically you are entitled to compensation to get your posessions back to the same condition they were before he/she caused the accident. And by proper condition it should be good physically as well as worth.

Something to talk about, and if they dont want to talk to you about it, i recomend a lawyer, as soon as lawyers get involved insurance companies dont like to deal with the hassle. Spending 200-300 for a lawyer to check a few things out for you could get you several thousand.

wasn't a tacoma, but my wife was in a wreck in a honda civic where the at fault insureds totaled it, but the owner who was insured was at home which was a ranch in Mexico and there was only one phone in the entire town and it was at the towns store, my insurance said they could fix it, the car cost 7K, they spent over 12K trying to fix it, every time they said it was ready I inspected it and refused to take it, once they replaced the motor, tranny, A/C, coolant system, entire front end etc.... it ended up costing the figure above, I then very quickly traded it in. Just watch out when they say they can fix it, sooner or later they will pull the "betterment" BS on you (which means they buy parts from a salvage yard, they won't be new but they will be "better" then the parts on it).
