I purchased my 2011 DCLB (used) with spacers (1.5" measured) and AAL's in the rear with plans to eventually swap them out and do it right. Currently running 265/70R17's that rub the mud flaps slightly occasionally when hitting bumps and turning. Truck also has a slight rake and the rear is really stiff. I already installed Camburg balljoint UCA's to fix the caster issues with the spacer lift.

I've jumped from wanting to do 5100's, to ICON stage 1, and now considering 6112's (set at 4th position) and 5160's, plus replacing the rear single (thick) AAL with a 3 leaf. A few questions:

    1. I don't really know how this is going to effect ride quality (prefer slightly stiff, good handling, but not teeth rattling, and can soak up the bigger bumps). I do a lot of highway, but also a bit of gravel/washboarded roads, and some "trails". I'm hoping the 6112/5160/3 AAL setup will be better than what I have now.

    2. Will the 6112's in the 4th position and the 3 leaf AAL be level, or raked? Will it be at the same height or higher than my current 1.5" spacers? I don't want to go lower in the front, and I don't want to run the 6112's maxed out in the 5th position.

    3. Currently when pulling a trailer/loaded bed, I hardly get any sag at all with the AAL I have now, which is nice. Would this likely change with a 3 leaf AAL setup?

    4. Are extended brake lines required for the rear with the 3 leaf AAL setup?

Is there a better option that I'm not considering?

    Thanks in advance!

I just put in the same components a week ago.

I have a SB, but the difference shouldn't be that much.

6112 at #3 gave me exactly 2" up front. With a progressive AAL in the rear I still have 1 1/4" of rake. I think if you go to ring #4 you'd still have rake, but not a lot. Since you're a LB, probably fairly close to level. Do you have the TSB leafs? I do.

    Didn't need brake lines.

I came from OME coils and shocks, so I was already stiffer than stock, but I like these Bilsteins better. They feel smoother for the big bumps - probably due to the large pistons. The small bumps are still as stiff as OME, but nothing bad at all. I didn't have an AAL prior, and that definitely feels a bit stiffer back there - especially with no weight. But I'm hoping it'll handle loads better. I love the setup so far. After a day of driving it all seems normal again.

    Awesome! Thanks!

I don't have the TSB leaves, just a single thick AAL that I'd like to swap with a 3 leaf progressive setup.

Did you keep your overload in?

The overload is out. But I believe you could leave it in for a bit more rake.

On a side note....did you ever clear coat your 6112's? I'm trying to find time and a warm spot to do mine.

I did. Some areas of it got scrapped off during install, so once it gets warmer out I was going to tape it off and spray a final coat.

I still want to spray where the hose connects too - now that they're installed. I just need to make sure the clearcoat doesn't gum up their ability to rotate.
