Awesome! Now if you can just keep getting 26 MPG. What was your average speed? Cruise Control?

I just went the speed limit (70mph) and I used the cruise control. I think it helps that there weren't that many hills between Temple and Houston. Between Temple and Abilene there are so many, I believe that is what really kills your mileage.

I agree, but only at highway speeds. My Tacoma actually gets better mileage in the hills around North San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Austin at about 55 - 60 MPH...

My only complaint about Austin: I don't have a job there.

My mother was actually raised in Austin before my grandfather took a job with the Navy as a photographer. He got transfered to New Orleans shortly after that. That's not all bad. She met my dad there! Guess where I was born... :D

And when was the last time you pulled up to a Canadian gas station and dropped a couple of gallons into the tank?

Myself, I pump in liters and convert into mi/US gallon. That L/100km shit that we use up here makes no sense to me.

Are you in the Air Force? I always see the C-130s in their holding patterns out at Dyess when I pass through there. Where are you stationed now? I'm in Air Force ROTC at Texas Tech University. Hopefully I'll be commissioning in a couple years granted that I bust my butt and graduate on time.

I've been driving my new '07 Access PreRunner V-6 for a few weeks and am getting around 22 mpg. Now, about 60-70 % of the driving is at about 50-55 mph highway driving, optimal gas mileage speed I'd guess.
The truck is GREAT- a big improvement over the '03 4-dr PreRunner I had.

I have a 2.7 5speed 4x4 and I get about 24 mpg. About 50% freeway, 50% city driveing. I get on it every so often, but much of the time I just cruiz.

Well my mpg is getting a little better. It started at 17.5 when I bought the truck and now I’m getting around 19.75 mpg at 3900 miles. That’s improvement, not yet in the range of 23 – 28, but so far so good. I was told it should continue to improve until I reach 5000 miles.

See, I would love to have gotten a 4x4 and still gotten 24MPG. That would be awesome. Not to mention - I could convince my wife to take the Tacoma instead of the Rav4 (Just in case we "bump" into some rough conditions ;)).

Don't worry. I have 13,000 miles on mine since I bought it in January. I am still seeing the mileage go up. On this last tank (city/highway/hills mix) I got 25 MPG. I am VERY happy with that!

I still miss the 28mpg I was getting out of my 22RE, and that was driving it like a complete mad man (it was a 5 speed, I can't help it.)

That being said, when this one is paid off, I will be getting a v6 4x4. Maybe even a D4D if they are available by then! :D

I just purchased my 07' Tacoma last week and after 2 fill-ups I am only averaging 16.1MPG. I drive really light on the gas and between my Wife and I we get 27.5-28.5 in our highlander hybrid (upper end of milege for this vehicle). I am guessing it will improve after break-in period but I also wonder if the large tread BF Goodrich tires are taking 1-2MPG off my mileage. Any suggestions?
