I would personally do it. Just from looking at it online. I personally like to crank em up. Drive em for about 15-20 minutes bring em on back crawl up under there and check for leaks and what not. Mighty clean nicely detailed truck. Personally I'd buy it. I bought my 06 for 10k but it was dirty inside and out and had sat in someone's yard for 3 years. So. I just kinda won that argument over the value of the truck. But now it's insured for 20k so do it if you like it.

Where are you located OP? Depending on where you're at, there may be way better deals on Craigslist.

Do you have any hesitations about it not being 4wd? Be very certain you don't care about that before pulling the trigger.

$15k is what I paid for my '06 Double Cab TRD with 81k miles, in 2010.

If you don't care about 4wd or TRD though, it looks like a clean, low mileage truck, and priced at what most people would probably be willing to pay.

Price seems a little high. Check it over for issues. Also some kind of warranty wouldn't be out of order. Post has a lot of unnecessary wording feels like a greasy used car salesman to me jmo.

I checked craigslist and found some nice ones but they had much higher miles. I drive about 30k miles a year so I try to find them with low miles to start off with so the truck is sellable in the future.

I am fine without 4wd. I've had it in my current truck and never use it.

After looking around on Craigslist and autotrader it looks like I could drive this until it has 120-130k miles and not lose that much money when I sell it. I get a car allowance so the payment is covered.

Here is the same truck with 25k more miles for essentially the same price.

This isn't a bad deal but still has more miles and it's a short bed which is pretty much useless to me.

I forgot to mention a huge factor. I need to be able to finance it. I have found in the past that having miles under 100k helps make that possible.

My OPINION is that it's 2WD, so it's no.
Also make sure the frame has been replaced under the recall.

Can't really argue with the points you made. Based upon your yearly mileage driven, and need for financing, under 100k miles is definitely important.

I'd definitely go snag this one.

Yeah I need to check on the frame and other recalls. As far as 2wd this thing is going to be a road warrior that carries a ladder. I am in commercial roofing sales and I live in the south where it snows once or twice a year.

ever have to drive up a wet grass slope to access the back of a building? If you never leave pavement, go for it. If you are sometimes driving around in grass or mud at work sites I'd shell out for 4wd. I guess you'd know by now if you really needed it.

I've owned a few pickups over the years....including 2 Mazdas and 3 Tacos....all 2WD. I live in the Midwest and have never wished I had a 4x4. :notsure:

Looks like a nice truck but you can probably do better on the price. I would use the fact that it's been in an accident to negotiate a better price.

Well first off I have had 4wd for the last two years and never use it. Also I call on existing commercial buildings so I'm always just parked in their parking lot. I've never had to pull up a wet grassy hill or onto a new construction site and would never need to. In fact most of my clients and prospects have internal roof access so I don't even have to pull my ladder off.

I agree about trying to negotiate since its been in an accident. I'm going to talk to them and see what they can do. I would think I could get it down to $14k or $14.5k at the worst.

    it seems like a fair price, but I wouldn't finance 15k on a 2005.

If you're mostly looking to use it for work, one option to consider to save some $ is a single cab tundra. Interest rates usually start at 8% when financing a 2005.

I can get 3.99% through my bank on it so I've got the financing covered. And I have two kids so a regular cab isn't an option.

In that case, if you like the truck, I'd get it! With that year and mileage, I think it has a good balance between reliability and holding up value.

I appreciate everyone's opinion. I hate to admit this but I didn't even see that it had an accident until carolinasport brought it up. So I need to look at the truck a little closer and bring that up in the negotiations.

I've only been through 3 snows with my Tacoma and 2wd blows. It slides everywhere compared to my full size in 2wd.
It sucks enough were Id probably hate it even twice a year. Cause even in a good rain itll slip.
Just my opinion though. I've been spoiled with all 4wd vehicles.
