Just got a heck of a deal on an ARE camper shell. Do the plastic bed caps need to be removed before installation?

Well it looks kinda off just sitting up on there like it does. Can't say that I've seen that before... Is there a trim peice missing or something?

This top specifically made for a 2nd gen Tacoma or is it like a universal top?

Check out the height of the topper compared to the cab roof when you go to take pics.

is the top of the cap the same height as the cab roof? if it seems to fit flush, then your good to go. it is the style of the cap.

You can buy 2 styles of camper shells, one that sits on top of the rails, which is what you have, and the other style is one that fits over the rails which hides the plastic bed caps.

Yeah I think so. I know you can take off the rails. I had another guy send me a photo of his. But I think I'm good with it. Now to get it painted to match.
