    I paid $300 for them to upgrade from three to seven rolls of 3M adhesive tape. They said if I planned to drive it on the freeway, they wouldn't warranty it if I didn't pay for that option. I gladly did - best money I've spent! I didn't want anything falling off the truck.

    I wonder if the truck was damaged at the dealer in some way, and this is their method of hiding the underlying eyesore?

    No...this is their way of "tricking it out" and adding some profit. Jeep and Ford dealers down the road from me do this stuff all the time. Guess what? Someone ALWAYS buys them. Dealers wouldn't do it if it didn't work.
