The 887s are a heavy duty spring the truck is not heavy enough to compress the spring enough to get bolts back into spindle IMO ,, I had similar issues but at the top end trying to reinstall shock through top plate ,,

Those are the 5100 ? I have the 885s on mine and if I was to do it again I would go to the 884s,, I have no extra weight on the front ,, i.e. Bumper ,winch etc

You probably have to go with the spring compressor tool method to install it looks like.

I probably could but if spring is not compressing by the weight of the truck it probably will ride really harsh. I have feeling this spring has 900 rate instead of 590lb

Others have used a 887s on their 3rd gens. Hell I've even read some using 887s at the second notch on 5100s.

I'm runnin 885s on 5100 at 0, pre assembled from wheelers off-road. They bolted right up, just had to disconnect UCA from castle nut/cotter pin and strut bolts top/bottom. Got a little over 2" of lift.

You're best bet would be to take the struts and springs off and have a shop mount them for you. And then you bolt them into the truck. Shouldn't be too much, maybe $100 for both.

Looks like everyone was able to install them same way I'm doing.
I've managed to get all bolted up but it looks like upper ball joing is under lots of tension, just doesn't seem rite

The 884 , 885 and 887 are all the same spring rate just different heights

The 886 is a higher spring rate and about the same height as the 887

887's will likely get you 3" , cycle the suspension a bit to see if everything settles in

Pretty sure you're gonna need an UCA to get within alignment with that much of a lift

I've only done one side, blocks are under other side. My friend is telling me to do the other side but I'm thinking I should not and remove them to avoid any damage to suspension.
Second gen gets 3.25 lift before settle. 3gen gets about 2" and I'm at 4" something is wrong here. Could manufacture label them wrong?

It's almost as they were heat treated more. Stock spring have metal bounce then you hit them against concrete floor and ome's are much stiffer yet looking thinner
