The two markings mean different things. All mountain-snowflake tires are M/S, but not all M/S tires are mountain-snowflake.

I've never had K02's or Duratracs, but my ST Maxx have been great in the snow.

There are some running 285/75/16 KO2's on PRO\TX suspension without any mods except removing mud flaps. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/285s-on-trd-pro-ko2s.404926/ I would expect some rub off road however.

Have been reading for the past two ish hours on here. Some say that 285/75/16 will fit by just taking the flaps off, others say they wont. Seemed like I had quite a bit of room with the 265/75/16. Wish I knew what to do lol.

Definitely not a bad idea. Thankfully a girl that was with me had AAA and it was free. Tow ended up only being about 4 miles. I don't even know that I would have wanted to bother trying to fix it with 8-10" of snow on the ground.

If you off road at all go with the 265/75/16's.

Well thats the thing, I don't really. It's a mall crawler (hey it doesn't matter to me!). I drive in the mountains so gravel roads and snow are the worst things that I encounter. I just have a 2.5 in" spacer up front and a 1.5" block in the back because I like the way it looks. I also currently still have all 4 mud flaps on. May flex here or there but no off roading like most of the guys on here. Just wouldn't want much rub at full turn (even though I rarely ever have it at full turn).

Glad you will be OK. Good luck with the new truck search. Speedy recovery. Be well.

In this case I would still get the 265/75/16's. :) I've had both sizes. My next tires will be 255/85/16. I want the height without the width.

What modifications have you done to fit the 255/85/16? I realize that this is a 33" tire but slightly less width. Wouldn't mind some added height if this was possible.

Read a bunch of these pages. Pretty much I would run fine on road but will rub off road under most circumstances. The verdict is, not that anyone cares, will be 265/75/16 Goodyear Duratracs. Now just to get a price. Tire shop will be open Monday. Another few days with no truck :(

You might find a Walmart tire shop open this evening or tomorrow if you are interested in the Wrangler Aithorities. Its pretty much a Duratrac, mountain-snowflake rated, and according to the folks in the Rangers Review thread a good tire. The OP claims he runs Authorities and Duratracs on company vehicles and prefers the Walmart version. One of my coworkers raves about them too. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/goodyear-wrangler-authority-the-rangers-review.233752/

Thanks for the heads up. It's currently sitting at a tire shop in town. Probably not going to have it towed again. I'll just wait it out till next week.

Update: Went by the tire shop this morning. Looks like it'll be the Cooper ST Maxx or the KO2's in a 265/75/16 due to availability and cost. Which one should I get guys? Gravel roads and snow(possibly deep) are my off road.

Love the KO's on my truck, have read the KO2's are even better. Only have ~25k on mine and they still look new, never left me stuck and that is with some hard off road use in deep snow. They do throw gravel, but then again any tire with decent mud and snow traction is going to. Sometimes when I look at the 265/75/16 they do look just a bit small, other times they seem just about right. It is a safe and likely a wise decision.

I love my ST Maxx's. I haven't gotten to put them through much but what little mud, ice, and snow I've been able to find they've done great and I have no complaints. Love the fact they have that "armored" sidewall, that's what sold me on these versus any others.

Edit: I used 4wd once to get up a snowy hill I had to stop on, and 4wd once in mud but I was trying to get stuck in 2wd. No weight in the bed I get by just fine so far
