I once got a smoking deal on a set of 265/7516 load E tires. The deal was good enough that I couldn't pass it up. I put them on my 2.7l tacoma. Was all excited until I picked up the truck and promptly headed to the interstate for a test drive. The on ramp was steep enough that I could only get up to 55mph with those heavy tires! I promptly sold them.

Most of the time I see threads asking about E rated 265/75 tires people warn people they ride like a dump truck and mileage may drop slightly. Only time you see people advocate for an E rated tire is for off-road use.

How were the Toyos you had? I just bought Toyo AT2s C rated 265/76 and anxious to get them from UPS and get them installed.

Toyo's are one of the better A/T tires for road handling IMO but fall a little short off road. Depends what you want them for. I think they are great for people who want a meaner looking rig but are usually on pavement with a sparkling clean truck. Their winter traction is 7/10 and wear is about average. I had them on a 2010 Tahoe for work.

They wear like iron. Do great on the highway, decent on the hard packed snow/ice, but I always felt they under-performed in steep loose gravel/rocks and deep snow. I definitely like them better than BFG's. The only flats I have ever had with Toyos were slow leaks due to nails or screws. Never had a rock puncture. I am a big toyo fan and run the M-55's or MT's on my Duramax (in an E, because it can haul enough weight to justify it). I currently have these Toyo AT2s on my wifes FJ-cruiser since it is mainly a commuter with occasional off roading. I just prefer the Duratracs on my truck because it is the truck we take out when we do any difficult off-roading.

These tires sound right up my alley then, I spend more time on pavement than anything else and snow isn't much of an issue down here in Georgia. I know tires are sometimes a mixed bag on reviews and experiences, but seems like overall these get continuous solid reviews!

    Thanks!

Why would you buy an E-rated tire for a Tacoma unless you do serious off-roading? What are you guys doing that a C-rated tire can't handle?

    Mainly, KO2 only comes in E for 265/70/16 and 265/75/16. I'd love a C rated in those sizes :)

Even Load C will still kill your mileage. With my 265/70/17 A/T KO2's, I'm getting at best 20.5-21 MPG on the highway. That's with the air dam and bed cover on my 2016 DCSB Off Road 4x4. I bet I'd be over 23 MPG with the stock Goodyears.

However they look great and ride nice.

I used to run DuraTrac LT265/75R16 Load Range C on my Diesel Jeep Liberty. Love that tire! Why not go for the LT265/75R16 size?

The Kelly TSRs are great tires. My son and my brother have them. They are really quiet and do really well on wet pavement. I would choose them over Duratracs, every day.

I have General Tire Grabbers AT2's on my truck and living in Ontario / Canada where we get lots of snow and ice these tires are awesome. Its my first season with them and I couldnt be happier with traction. I have no weight in the rear and they still hookup without fail.

Im very comfortable when its snowing hard not to have to put it in 4 high.

just my two cents. Hope you find the right tire for you.

Interesting.. Thanks. 265/75-16, but load range C. I'd prefer to stick with stock size, (speedo, nav) but would be OK..
    On my short list..

This has actually been a helpful tire thread! ;) I have tried about 6 times since Thanksgiving to pull the trigger on tires but just don't feel right about it. I have the stock 18" tires on my Limited but am looking for a second set for winter driving. The KO2's have caught my eye many times but I don't want E Rating. I have a brand new set of 2016 16" rims and TPMS sensors so all I need are winter rated tires (must have the mountain symbols).

Ah, big city problems. I drove 250 miles to salt lake city Utah to get the tires I wanted. That happens when you live in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah, I totally understand. It's seriously one of those things that is a first world problem. Home, Work, Kids school and Church are all within 4 miles. I never get to the "other side" of town.

Now you have motivated me!
