Yea it is still odd that the piston rings failed. I'm not sure how they could even prove that water and dirt got in. Hell my intake has whole chunks of mud in it..

    Shitty timing for sure. But..

Based on the more I read from the symptoms that @BabyTaco is describing it sounds like top end (valve or head) problem. If there is blue smoke until it "warms up" that is from oil that has pooled in the cylinder not blow-by from rings. This could be from a bent valve or a bad valve seat or even a head gasket leak. I would encourage you to keep pressure on the dealer from corporate and see how this gets resolved. My guess is a top end rebuild at the cost of $1200 to the dealer if you have an extended powertrain warranty. IMO

Yeah, ill keep fighting it. I will put the bore scope down into the piston and see what it shows. And keep on trucking forward. The gf is pissed that I am questioning if I will make it to rock therapy . So I have added pressure of getting this fixed.

I'll try the paper test when I get the truck back to check the valves

Its funny how the dealership bullies those that are loyal Toyota customers. If I owned a dealership I would be encouraging enthusiast to return and be happy with the service. I have had 2 people I personally get a Tacoma after seeing mine and hearing how much I love it. I get that its a business...but pick your battles.

I agree on pushing all the buttons on the dealer. Like playing ping pong , they just served to you , now it's up to you to return the shot :argue:

Had my gf follow me from the dealer. Said it smoked for a bit but soon as I hit the on ramp for the i80 and accelerated it stopped and she couldn't smell smoke.

After going over symptoms again...I can't see this being piston rings. I do not have constant smoking which leads me to believe it has to do with the valves. I am exhausted from a long night so I am taking a day nap and then going to run a compression test again. This time I have a remote starter so I can better watch the gauge. Then I will take a look into the cylinders with the endoscope and see how the walls look. If dirt is the problem then I should be able to see wear on the walls.

If it's valves then you need to buy an I pact and do it yourself haha

Sounds a lot like its a valve seal, I had an 350 s10 that lived to smoke when it was cold once it was at operating temp though it was fine. If it were me I would do a few small upgrades while i was in there depending on what aftermarket support is available.

I don't think lce does much in the way of valve train. Even doing cams would be a huge pain stupid obd2 and your expensive tunning options

Norhng happened today. Mostly spent it recovering and researching more about the engine. Also watching MTV's catfish and recovering from a fun night. Decided to say screw it and party again! I'll do a compression test tomorrow and then also put the Endoscope to work. I hooked it up today and shoved it down my throat .
