I have no issue fishing the bolts through the bumper beam, but for some reason cannot get the bolt at an angle to come down through the spacer and bumper beam hole. I've never had this issue before. It almost seems like the bumper beam is too narrow for the bolt to stand up, but I am sure it is not. Just missing something I suppose. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I give @chealy86 99.9% credit for figuring it out how to do it after 2 days of messing with it(and. 01% for me for passing it on) and letting me know the secret before I installed mine!

Well that makes me feel a little better... I was under my truck for a long while this evening not getting past step 1 on what should've probably been an hour job...

Took me 10 minutes to fish wire both bolts after his tip!

@moe2o4 Ahhhh the infamous missing step! hahaha

As Im sure Corey told you, you have to flip the bolts around in the bumper(using the fishwire) towards the center of the truck. Then they will fall right down and through the spacer and the mounting hole.

Big follow-up thanks to moe204 for the assistance. I went on a hiatus from the install due to some other more pressing issues, but once I get back to it the bolts fished through in less than 10 minutes and the install was complete within about 30 minutes. Thanks again!

Your very welcome man. Glad I could help you out! And thanks to @chealy86 for dropping the hint on the install first to make it easy for the both of us!

I gave up and just omitted the nut plates. I tried lifting them and everything. Both ways etc etc. An impact gun got them tight.

Drawtite uses smaller plates. I would not recommend the Curt. If I would do it again, I would buy the drawtite.

I'm sorry to hear that man and definitely understand your frustration. As soon as I figured out to poke my finger up through the hole to push that plate up at an angle , perpendicular to the angle of the bolt inside the frame, the bolts came through. I went through 2 days of frustration with no progress whatsoever and considering having it professionally installed, then had the thing installed in 30 minutes on the third attempt.

Good luck with it either way...

It's cool. I tried that, I tried turning the bolts to the other side, plates in both ways etc. I am just so used to everything factory the concept of a nut plate just is not my thing. Eventually I will find a factory bumper take off and sell the Curt, but for now it works. I just needed something for a rear recovery point after my landscaper got his dump truck stuck in my yard and I had no way to help recover it.

    None...yet
Not sure what your tactic was. But I had to fish the nut/plate sideways(canted to the front of the truck) to make it work. Easier on the passenger side than the driver.
