So, I'm changing over to LEDS. Boy, them lil' bulbs are a challenge. Got one done.
HOWEVER, in the process of doing #2, the bulb SOCKET disengages, and is now up in the ceiling assembly and the assembly needs to come down to access it.
I can pull the forward edge of the assembly down (clips, but that's about it. Can't pull it down much more than about 1/2 inch, and it will NOT slide forward. Too much resistance, and am damn nervous to force it.
Am I on the right track? Right now I'm just planning on taking the truck to the dealer, and let them..... DEAL with it.
Thoughts on this project of getting to the bulb and socket which is now floating around on to pf the ceiling control assembly?
    Thanks!

The whole assembly pulls straight down. Just start at one corner, then the next then the next. There are 4 clips. It pulls pretty hard but the clips aren't ones that will break. I just had mine out the other day.

Excellent. I thank you very much. It is nerve-racking though, the resistance.

I just used a flat terminating screwdriver and popped of the plastic lenses. Then used a piece of duct tape and wrapped it around the light and pulled it out.

    Yes
One was that simple. The other came apart above the fixture. Now the bulb and socket are free floating inside the entire assembly.

Sorry didn't read that part. Looks like you need to remove the assembly. Good luck. Don't force anything.

Search the 3gen forum for the process to remove the maplight assembly. There is a posting with pics on the easy removal process.

OK. That was the ticket. Much appreciation.

    (Note: I HATE PLASTIC.)
