Would it be too much to ask, Toyota, to continue the body line along the flanks of the Tacoma to include the small area between the bed separation and the rear fender on the short bed? Currently, the short bed looks tacked on as an after-thought. Tweak the sheetmetal and make the short bed look like a part of the truck design.

Another reason to buy the long bed.

Didn't it look like that on the 2nd gens also? Glad a 5' bed is never gonna be the truck for me. Could use a 7' like my 1983 Toyota PU.

It did look like that on the gen 2. I agree though, the short bed looks like a dog's tail that was bobbed off.

And just where would you suggest Toyota continue this body line since the rear fender flare goes almost to the front of the bed??

Almost to the front means there's room. Which there is. Or, Toyota could tease the body line down towards the rocker panel like it is at the front wheel well.

I would love a long bed for the utility of it, but honestly the proportions on that with a double cab are also kind of off. The double cab with the shortbed looks stubby. Really the only Tacoma with decent proportions is the access cab. I could never do a DCLB because there's no manual, and driving an auto is for old people lol ...
