That was perfect, IMHO. Thanks for the advice and insight on how & why you developed your exhaust system. For my personal purposes, more than likely I'll copy your setup. Why reinvent the wheel?

This isn't the first time I've heard this complaint about Gadget, but it's certainly not reassuring to see bam bam bam five consecutive posts mirror one another about the same subject. So while I'll more than likely order the Spec U long tubes and maybe that 170deg F thermostat and keep an open mind as much as possible, at least I won't be surprised or think I somehow did something should I share the same experience. Thanks y'all.

Finally got back under the truck with my torque wrench after tightening one lose bolt with a box end wrench. Most of the bolts weren't torqued to spec. Guess this will be a regular thing.

 

Just throw a witness mark on them. I've never had to tighten mine even after removing the third.

 

It's after 4:00 am. I'm drunk. Hung out with my nephew and he checked out. WTF are you talking about?!

 

Lol.....at the firehouse, can't sleep because we keep running calls.

 

Take a paint pen and mark the studs. Then you can visually see if they have loosened.

 

Sober it's all so clear. I'm too old for Dallas nightlife. Witness marks...

 

Anybody have the install instructions for the urd pulley in a pdf? I'd like to take a look at the process.

Thanks. I'm just not grasping why some people found it so difficult and some so easy. I know I'm missing something.

 

Mostly because people like to cut corners. I've done it twice, its reslly easy. Use a puller tool to remove the old pulley. Clean up the snout as nest as possible without scratching it up to much. Put a little oil on it. Put new pulley in oven at 200 for 15 minutes. (2 people makes this extremely easy) Have one person standing by with the tools, and ensure everyone knows their job. First guy goes and grabs the pulley after 15 minutes of baking...slip it into your pulley holder tool(I had a strap wrench, I've heard of people using a pair of channel locks), hand it to the second guy waiting and grab the pulley install tool. Second guy holds pulley in place while you screw tool in to snout. You need 2 wrenchs. On to keep the tool from spinning and one to turn the nut on the tool which forces the pulley in to place. I found that if the second guy holds the strap wrench and the wrench keeping the tool in place, the first guy can focus on turning the nut alot faster and the pulley just goes right on. Once its flush with the snout, remove pulley tool, and you're done.

 

Did you guys replace your belt when you replaced the pulley? I've got about 20k on mine. Still looks good.

Did you go stealth pulley or the red supergrip one?
