So I got this error the other day... I reverted to a previous version of Vista and it still happens. I had a pretty nasty virus but that seems to be gone after the revert (it redirected my web searches). The Virus destroyed my McAfee Antivirus software, I had to reinstall that too. However, it seems to have affected my Wireless network controller. Also, my device monitor for my printer is gone now too.

    Steps taken:
    1. Update driver - no effect
    2. Uninstalled card in device manager, rebooted - no effect (no wireless internet access)

Prior to the uninstall I could access the internet but with this error msg. Dell Wireless WLAN network controller has stopped working.

Still get the error only difference is now I can't access the internet.

    Can anyone help with this?

Also, I was planning on going to Windows 7 this week, should I just install that and would that fix the problem?

    Comp Spec:
    Dell M1530 XPS laptop
2.4 GHZ intel dual core T6400
Vista Home edition service pack 2

Well if you're gonna upgrade to 7, wait until then. Does the computer detect the controller? If it does and the issue is just trying to access the Internet, try right clicking on the signal tower in the task manager and click on repair connection. This has always fixed my problem. Good luck

A full install will include new drivers for everything? and an upgrade won't?

I'd say do a clean install then and just start fresh.
