After reading a few complaints I decided Yesterday I would really get into using the Entune app seeing how everything works. Have to say it works well.

The Open Table App , Yelp, Open Table set up our reservations to Ruths Chris Tuesday night, The Movie App is also very good. I don't use FB to locate me publicly so that goes unused. The Music apps are great but I have 35GB of music on my USB and really don't need those apps unless I want to hear the latest music, most of which does not appeal. Would love to see WAZE and a few more apps.....

I wish Toyota would get on board with Apple Carplay and Apple would release more apps for that :D

I would think they would do Android first as there are far more Android devices in use than Apple

"Globally, Android slays the iPhone in terms of volume. IDC predicts Android shipments will top 1.15 billion, giving it 79.4% of the entire smartphone market this year. iPhone shipments are predicted to reach 237 million for 2015, which puts the iPhone at 16.4% of the market. Android is outselling the iPhone nearly five to one."

I think you see iPhones because too many Iphone users view them as a fashion accessory and flash them about more.

I tried the iPhone 5 for a couple weeks. I just could not deal with Itunes and don't want to be limited to Apples eco system. I decided a long time ago to rip all my CDs to MP3s and any I buy as well so I can play them on any phone I would buy. I did not want to be contained by a manufacturer's ecosystem. Android and MP3 are open source free OS and music products.

Android is like a big USB stick 64GB internal and another 64GB on a card. Removable battery, and a ton of featurs on the LG V10 I would never find n an iPhone. I do have one of those 100+ GB classic Ipods as they don;t nmke them anymore and it is a great way to store an entire library.

DropBox is my cloud service. Everything goes there that happens on my phone. Recorded calls, Pics, Videos, Notes.

I could not make my iPhone look like these......Two out of five different screens,

I think another reason why iPhone appear to have a market share is that they are all basically the same. If you look at the phones individually apple wins (not by OS). Okay okay, now apple has the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s, but look at all of the different android phones out there. Samsung has several, LG several etc. So if you compare my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 there aren't near as many as there are iPhones. Plus lets face it, at least at one time, because if this, there were a lot more apps being created for apple than for android. This is changing too though. Well it actually has changed. Just did a quick search. Android 1.6m vs apple 1.5m. But it also makes it easier for accessories to be made for apple. So many android configurations means not as many accessories. Oh well.

Now on to the thread. I finally got my apps set up with my phone and created a I heart radio and slacker account. I already had a pandora account because of my samsung tvs. I like them and the apps work well.

Here's the question as it's making me want to pull the radio and replace it. Is there a way to eliminate the incessant warning on this stupid radio? I'm tired of the warning that pops up every time I start the truck and now with the apps set up, I get a warning about data usage. I GET IT!!! Now GO AWAY!! Any clues on how to get rid of the BS?

I fully agree with you that Android offers way more than iPhone and it's the route I'd go if I had to choose. But I also know that a ton of people enjoy iOS because there isn't a zillion things you can customize and it's rather simple to use once you get it going. And once they are in that comfort zone, there is no going back.

I still don't have a Tacoma but I can't wait to try out a few of these apps when I finally get one. For now, I'm trying to buy a house and have to continue reminding myself that my paid-off Matrix is like putting money back in my pocket. And the darn thing will NOT break down LOL. Running strong at 160k miles.

I've had an iPhone since the iPhone3. The longer I use them the less I like them. I did try to switch to the HTC One but had a terrible experience. In hindsight I think it was all the JUNK that was on the phone from HTC.

I want to try and make the change once again but now my wife and kids all have iPhones and being on a different platforms makes is more difficult. iMessaging seems to be the biggest issue with them. They like to see that I have read their messages and vice versa.

That is way too cluttered for me. I ripped all my CD's to iTunes so many years ago I do t recall the last time I bought a cd but I'm sure it was when blockbuster was around.

To each their own and the android screens look to messy for me. I like a clean aesthetic look to my interface an everything I have is apple and it's quite intuitive the way it works. There's android users and iOS users and I prefer iOS

    Waze! Heck yes! :fistbump:

I would love to see a few more apps as well. As it is, though, it's just kind of crazy to check sports standings, reserve a table at a local restaurant, then check the weather and buy movie tickets from my dadgum head unit. I told my gearhead father about that and he just shrugged. "More to break." He's probably right, but in the meantime it's super neato.

Ruth's Chris....jealous...can't lie. First time I wet was back in Atlanta two nights in a row on a business trip. I think there's one in SF....hmmmm.

For me the etunes interface is much more pleasant experience compared to my last Toyoya. Has been quick and responsive for the apps I've used.

if you ever decide to try Android again, try one of the Google Nexus devices. those are my favorite Android devices. they are designed BY Google and made by whatever company gets the contract that year. my first was a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, best Android phone i've ever had.

i also had an HTC One for a while and i hated all the HTC/ Verizon BS preloaded onto the phone. instead i ordered the new LG Nexus 5X. no bloatware. clean OS as Google intended.

Google designs the phone around the newest version of Android so the phone looks underpowered on paper; but, when paired with the OS, actually outperforms my girlfriend's iPhone 5 and my old HTC One M8.

sorry for the derailment. just my two cents on the ongoing, evergrowing Android v. iOS debate.

Thank you! Very helpful. I try not to be a fanboy for any technology and keep my options open for the best stuff. Even though I have an iPhone I am frequently complaining about it! I have a MBA but actually run Windows on it.

    Now...back to the topic at hand.....Entunes. :D

I like my Nexus 6, and hate entune.

Seriously. The 00's called, they want their entertainment systems back. It's 2016, give me a casted interface already.

I had and iPhone 5s and upgraded to an iPhone 6s yesterday. When I entered the apps on the head unit, I never had the Yelp, Open Table, Facebook...etc apps. I downloaded the Entune app from the app store onmy 6s (which I did not on my 5s) and after downloading and logging into the Entune App, I received an alert on my head unit that there was an upgrade. I had previously checked to see if there was an upgrade and there was not. After a lengthy download and install of the upgrade on the head unit, I now have all the apps that I did not have previously. I also have options for messaging in the phone settings and actually received a message notification on the head unit when a new text message was received on my phone.

I cannot be certain that the app install triggered the update to the head unit, but it would be quite a coincidence if it did not. Previous to the update, I thought the apps were part of the premium package only. I do not have the premium sound. Hope this helps someone else who may not have the apps on their head unit. I have a lot of new features and settings after the head unit update.
