Darn Mark, that's just not right!
Glad to see it missed you though, NBD here with a little over 18"; just a PITB for a few days.
The worst spot is always where the plow truck pushes all the snow over the end of the driveway when they clear the main road.

Morning all:wave:. I haven't been out yet, but looks like we got about 2 foot of the snow. Drifting on the other hand is as high as 4 foot in my front garden. It will take a few days to get dug out. Fortunately, the community I live in has an HOA and snow removal is included. Unfortunately, there is so much snow we will more then likely get hit with an assessment . Hey guy's, be careful if your out there shoveling. Don't overdue it:thumbsup:. Picture 1 taken yesterday. There is a 3 foot covered bush in there somewhere. Picture 2 was this morning and the drifting has that bush and the whole corner covered to about 5 foot:facepalm:. Picture 3 is the drifting on the front porch last night. Couldn't get the storm door open. Only exit that we can get out is the garage. Picture 4 is out to the road where the plows went through. the top of our little mini maple (3 foot tall) looks like a bush. I hope everyone is safe and be careful all.

Morning Rob, Mother Nature sure has her weather directions out of whack. I hope your Chief is inland in Jersey as they are having major flooding issues with tides down along the shore. How is everything else going?

I've pretty much got all of the snow cleared now - been pacing myself so I don't overdo it. I better take a rest and have some more coffee now, though. :pccoffee:

    Be safe everyone!!

She sure does, 3rd year in a row things have seemed out of whack. o_O

Yep, he's safe from the flood threat. He has HOA too, but they only clear from the cars to the road ... I guess up to the house, walkways, etc he has to clear. He wasn't looking forward to it when I spoke with him yesterday.

Everything is good ... had a pretty good earthquake here about 4 hrs ago. Longer and stronger than anything I've felt for several years; actually moved me to shelter under the desk wondering how strong it might get and if the building might fail structurally. Lasted over a minute. But all seems well and intact. Checked with my wife, it woke her up and she thinks she heard something fall, but not too serious; I had her check the gas lines and all was normal. Little late night rock and roll. :)

A coffee well earned Mark.:D. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Earthquake o_O. Glad everyone is okay and no major damage to your house. Glad there is no gas line issues too. That could be a real problem. Does the Missus know where the main gas shutoff valve is incase there is a problem?
HOA's can be good or sometimes a PITA. The fellow in charge of the snow removal sent out a voice mail to all residents telling us that after working for a few hours last night most of the removal crews went home and the majority of them never came back:eek: this morning. I'll probably spend the day doing my own driveway so we can at least get out. Looks like an Advil cocktail day:thumbsup:.

Be safe and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Yes she does. My 26 yrs active duty with various deployments, TDYs, and a remote tour, not to mention her being an Iowa farmgirl originally, she's remarkably knowledgeable and independent ... frankly, I'd probably be more lost without her than she without me.

Take your time with the shoveling, stuff looks awfully heavy and wet from the pics. Our weekend starts today. Kids coming over for homemade pizza this afternoon. :)

    Take care Ken.

    Morning all:
Looks like we're all good and survived the "blizzard"!
Just heard on the news that Allentown PA, about 20 mi. south of me, got 31 inches of snow.?????
I'm about at the max at 18" as to it not being a problem.

    Don't hurt yourself Mark :D :p

My sisters HOA - some new folks moved in and THEY went to the HOA and said they want drive gates at the entrance. Just gates - no fence or walk gate, just a road gate. Why on earth would you move to a place that doesn't have gates, if you want gates?!?!?! Now her fees will double to cover the cost of installation and maintenance. They have gotten a few of the neighbors to buy into the idea  They think it will slow people down.

Isn't everyday an Aleve cocktail day? :anonymous:

Don't know about where you're at, but gates in Texas make the roads private, and the home owners are obligated to maintain/resurface the roads. Our small neighborhood budgets $28K a year for road maintenance.

She's in Colorado... her biggest gripe is, if you want a gated community, then move into one. Don't make current owners pay for something they don't want (subdivision has been there 8 yrs or so) I'll tell her that and she can check it out. She said it would only take a simple majority to pass the vote.

When I was buying this house I looked down the street. Nice house. Then they put this folder on the desk. It listed the things I Had to to. What people I had to use to add garage, tar, etc. things I couldn't do like have my race car in the drive way or property because it wasn't registered . No trailer, no more than two cars. I said this much be a joke. I have two trailers, 2 cars, 2 race cars,a truck. 2 motorcycles.
He said well your gonna have to sell them.
Needless to say I said some non useable repeated words and my middle finger had a spasm.
I will never live on a property I'm paying for and be told how I'm going to live there.

They do have a place... they can keep neighborhoods from getting trashy, but some/alot of them go WAY too far. Ask 4x4 about his

Had never heard of one until after i'd signed the paperwork on my place :anonymous: After two years the officers all quit and the HOA was no more

Almost everyday Susan. Advil is my new best friend on most days(knees, shoulder and sometimes back):(

Like Andrew said about gated community roads. We could've had a gate, but when the first board found out the community would be responsible for the roads (repairs, plowing and maintenance) they said NO Gate. The township plows and maintains the roads.

Mine was when we first moved in, but the past few years after many changes in the Declarant it's not to bad.

Hi Mike, I didn't think I would like living in a community where they told me what I can and can't do, but it got better. If I had as many toys as you do, no way would I move into an HOA community. It's just my truck and the wife's car so no issues for us. Our board does a good job and the amenities we have are like a country club. For me, the pluses out weigh the minus's.

Nope not at all. Working as hard as I do and the long hours and being exhausted after 6 days and someone walks up and puts a note in my mailbox saying I had to mow my yard this weekend. I think it would turn the note into toilet paper for the person that delivered it. Naaaaa no way...

Dang Rob, hope everything is okay! That's some serious shake.

I'm southwest of Allentown. From the detailed snowfall totals I've seen it was a pretty spotty mix, but I think the wind had a big role to play. I measured about 21" this afternoon, in places I think were wind-neutral during the storm. But I swear it seems more like 25"-30" in general. Maybe it packed down a bit during the day? Trudging out to the shed first thing in the morning, the snow was almost up to my crotch. First pass down the driveway took about a half hour; the snowblower chute barely stuck out of the snow pile in a few of the drifted spots. I pretty much wiped myself out clearing snow today. Aleve and beer seems to have helped!
