I don't think it was tea they were serving. Not surprising that one nut job supports the other. Just because there is freedom of speech, doesn't mean you should.

Well apparently Quebec mayor can stop a pipeline, and apparently Trudeau does not believe the Energy East is a smart shovel ready project. Lets keep pounding our dollar to below .50 cents and completely destroy the oil and gas industry in the process and top it off with pushing ourselves into record debt. Pretty sure that is what that clown and his French butt buddies are laughing about every day. Friken' crazy if anyone in the west thinks these ass hats are doing a good job, ...then there is no help for you. Lets not get into the whole not supporting the war against Isis and looking like a worldwide embarrassment, while the adults of the world look at us as the little ones at the kids table.... that is a whole other topic...

While I do believe the opposition to energy east is 100 percent political, our dollar won't hit 50 cents. I can see low 60's but much more than that is not realistic. Especially since our dollar is only falling because the US economy is "strong" and I doubt it can hold up with all the stock market losses beginning to pile up. Trudeau can't do anything to control the price of oil nor was energy east going to do anything other than allow the oil sands to sell more oil at the bottom dollar. In all reality delaying energy east could be a blessing in disguise. Oh, and if you think the Arabs are raking in cash, check Qatars deficit this year. It will make whatever Trudeau posts up look amazingly good. It's getting to the point where, other than Iran, ISIS, and the Saudis, no one is making money on oil and that won't last for very long. Not that it's any consolation to the people who have lost their jobs. I do wish the best to those people but this cycle happens every so often no matter who is in charge.

Oh, and Canada isn't a world power. Nor will we ever be. While we can say that we have a pile of resources we are really much like a small gulf state. The USA is, like it or not, our best chance at defending what we have if and when it comes to blows. We simply don't have the population or nukes to act like a "big kid".

Rona Ambrose calling out Trudeau for not rubber stamping Trans Mountain and Energy East just because the global price of oil has taken a shit is laughable . I think Trudeau's response in question period summed it up best ; " They expect us to get done in 10 weeks what they couldn't get done in 10 years "

It's pretty mich dead in the water from what my uncle says. He's very high up in a large oil company. Basically the French feel that they aren't going to get enough money for allowing the oil through their turf and that's why this project won't get built. That's how Quebec works, they always need more of whatever they can get than they deserve fairly. I sincerely believe it's appear a political tactic to appear strong and appease the rampent corruption there. The only way energy east could get approved is if the federal government rammed it down Quebec's throat with a giant "screw you" moment and I doubt Trudeau will do that at this point. Unless we are willing to give up far more than what is fair this pipeline expansion/conversion isn't happening.

That's exactly what I'm saying. So are we supposed to construct a major refinery or pumping station in every town along the route because that's "fair"? Maybe pay a few hundred million dollars to ship a few hundred million dollars worth of oil? At least BC has legit environmental concerns about the projects they oppose, though sometimes the natives do get a little cash greedy too.

No , just sayin that everybody wants a piece of the pie and really the current issues with the state of the 3 major pipeline proposals within Canada were inherited by the current Federal government , not created by it

In 2015 the Canadian dollar weakened against 6 key currencies.

yep, that should do it. Quebec used the same tactics regarding the Churchill Falls Dam.

Yes, the problems were created by the last government. Hopefully Trudeau can find a way to talk down everyone else from there lofty demands eventually.

    Hence the word:

While it is significant that our dollar weakened overall the biggest socioeconomic impact is coming from the rapid strengthening of the US dollar. The US dollar is gaining on pretty much everyone else and has been since last year.
