Changing fluids in truck need opinions

I'm going to be changing my fluids (everything but the engine I use mobile 1 for that) in my truck and would like some opinions on Royal Purple synthetic.

I saw on trucks and other shows that they are a good brand and help eliminate drag on the moving parts.

Anyone have onions or stories otherwise?

I prefer mobil 1 as my synthetic engine oil. I have not heard anything bad about any RP products.

Are you just talking about the engine oil, or other fluids too?

I prefer Mobil 1 as its more readilly availible.

Ya that's what I was thinking, I don't even know where I could get RP.

There sight says Autozone, but I've never looked and I have never scene it there.

i saw the show and royal purple says that you must also use filters made for synthetic oil,they say synthetic oil breaks the media or filter down in a conventional filter,i dont know thats just what they said.

I think that was proven to be a myth.....I cant find the site right now, but as soon as I do I will post it up....

An oil filter is designed to catch solid particles, and the filter element acts just as well with synthetic oil running through its fibers, as it does with conventional oil. Would you consider the Toyota filter a high performance filter? If not, who makes one?

I still plan on running Mobile1 Synthetic in the motor and I was thinking RP for everything else...but if I can't find it to buy then something else. I just want to make sure no one else has tried it and said it killed their truck or something crazy like that

I used to doubt the Filter from the dealership, but after doing some testing, the particulates in the oil are no more when useing it, as opposed to useing a Mobil 1, K&N, or other filter.

My dad has always told me to get the OEM filter, they are usually cheaper and better quality.

FWIW, I noticed the Mobil 1 filters cause the oil pressure to build more slowly in the winter months.....

Wow that just sound kind of scary...I think I'm going to stick with the OEM filter.

So no one has any horror stories or anything about RP huh...

Not really scary. I noticed this in my Dodge (as the Tacoma doesnt have a oil psi gauge), that it took about 4 to 5 times longer for the psi to build up to operating pressure. I tested 3 different Mobil 1 filters, and had the same results, so Im pretty sure its a design thing....Not sure what kinda damage/wear can result from this, but I know start up is where the most wear can happen, so I wont use them.

i know this is an old thread but seriously check into rp b4 u buy it! it's one of the worst performing motor oils on the market. they just market the crap outta it! i use amsoil in my taco and mobil 1 in my corolla both of these oils are excellent! mobil one is just slightly cheaper and easier to get. since i tow things with my truck and it also cost alot more than my car i feel comfortable paying the extra $ on the amsoil for it. its suppose to give better heat and wear protection?
