I'm buying a 6" RC lift for my 07 Tacoma and will equip it with 35's. What has to be changed on the truck when lifting it 6"? Someone told me you have to change all kinds of stuff with the 4wd or something when putting one on idk, if so I probably don't want to do it.. I just wanted to see what I needed to prepare for. Also is anyone running a 6" lift with 20x12 rims and 35's or do I have to stay with 18x10's if I'm going to be running 35's? And would I need to regear?

Read this when choosing a lift.. He has a lot of good information on here.

Lifts over 2 or 3" (I think?) require new control arms and your cv boots wear faster. Unless you do a differential drop (diff drop) on it.
But his link should answer a lot of your questions about what to get depending what you need it for.

There are a few other threads on here that will answer questions. I'll see if I can find them.

more than likely you will be chopping cross member. Might want to pick something other than Junk Country.

Gaaaah junk country. I couldn't remember the name that everyone called it. Hahaaaaa. But again, it does depend on what he wants the lift for. Typically, op's should start with that info before asking about specific lifts. Rough country would definitely give him the height but there may be few other benefits from it.

My point is there are better 6 inch lifts out there.

I currently have a rough country 6 inch lift on my 15 DCSB tacoma. I haven't had any issues with it as of yet. I'm running too 35x12.5x20's. Like others have said here, it depends on what you're using it for. If its just for running around the city and grabbing groceries, you'll probably be fine with this lift. If you plan on doing some major off roading, I would seriously consider a 2 or 3 inch OME lift.....or one that doesn't require cutting the cross member (a drop bracket lift). What do you intend to use the truck for?

It's a drop bracket lift. None of that applies.

Well you learn something new every day. It will still be there if he decides to go with a different lift I guess.

Sweet man, I'm not a heavy off-roader but I occasionally do take it trail riding in the mountains. The trials I go on hardly really require 4wd even though there are some places that you have to flex to go over hills. It is my daily driver as well so I don't want it to really mess up the angle of the cv axles to to bad either. How does yours handle now? And did it change the ride quality that much? Thanks it's greatly appreciated!

I have a six inch on my 2015 DCLB on 35/12.5/17's probably switching to 35/12.5/20's soon but for now that's what I have she's a daily driver and a do also do some slight off-roading where I need 4Lo and its done pretty well it's obviously a little stiffer but not to much haven't felt much power loss put I am still planning on a regear just a quick thing your Speedo will be off by 5-10. It looks great though if your going for more look than off road capability then you'll be fine.

Dang that sounds and looks awesome man! If you could go back would you stay with that same lift or switch it up? I was also thinking of a 3" fabtech suspension lift with some good resi coilovers and resi rear shocks for best performance but it sounds like RC is holding well

I can't believe just 6" and 35's made it look that much taller

Id keep the same lift honestly but I am in the process of getting new shocks all around for the front you keep the stock ones and for the rear they give you the NO2's but I still want new shocks
