I found a pretty decent deal on a 99 limited 4x4 but he said the windshield seal seems to be leaking. Looking at the pictures, I'm worried that the rust above the windshield is the reason its leaking and/or could be a big time issue. As far as I can tell theres no other big time rust on the truck. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue on their tacoma and what it turned out to be. I'm hoping its just the seal but that line of rust bubbles has me worried for sure.

Heres a picture of it: [IMG]

tell the guy to take it to a glass shop and have them reinstall the glass. at the same time, see if the owner can inspect the rust to see if it's affecting the body around the brim of the glass. shouldn't be more than 50 bucks. would we well worth it if it gets the truck sold.

    Do this.
.It is a "Big Time" issue, even it is a real decent deal, you are looking at "Big time" problems.

Happened to my mom's Pathfinder. Glass shops would not replace the glass due to liability, so she had to take it to a body shop for a repair. I'm pretty sure it got pricey.

My 01 had that type of an issue but in a smaller area. it continued to rust under the windshield and caused the glass crack.
I had it removed and the rust cleaned up and primed (can be seen in my build thread) and a new windshield installed. I will address the rust issue on the visible part on the roof in the near future.

This picture looks like a much larger version of what I had. the windshield would need to be removed to have that repaired correctly otherwise bigger problems may arise other than a cracked windshield.

In my case my brother in law worked at the glass shop so he didn't have an issue cleaning up the rust and putting new glass in.
So I can imagine anyone else would have the experience CO Ryan mentioned.
