just an FYI if your going to do that install yourself. use a gas fueled soldering iron because if you use an electric you could maybe pop some fuses or do some damage because if the tip is heated from putting a current through it, it will transfer into the wire when trying to solder... thats a little tip from a stereo/alarm installer i know.

Smaller size wires can use electric solder, quick welds. for lower gauge wires use torch or gas solder as you said. thanks.

Not to initiate a price war, but here in Suck palm Biach pros charge about $500 for the install only, of system like Viper 5901, w/RS and a few other , e.g. motion sensr, etc.. Is not a bad price, but I really hate to have others work on my cars, specially if I see what has been done and then don't like it. Cause if you bring it back, you know they will FKup something else... Had it happen once and is a bad experience, plus is almost impossible to prove they messed things up... Texas price is not bad at all.:D

Count that you need extra diodes, relays, wires, connectors, time to figure your vehicle wirring, not just colors, but where they are physically located, etc. I've done it and it is a royal pain in the butt, cause even after following every detail of info online, I still ran into problems, which made me reassess what I've done, remove and re-install one plug at least once. My only 2 factors for not taking it to the shop are, that they use cheap T crimp connectors instead of soldering and that wires will be runamock through everywhere, makes it very difficult to do some other improvements, e.g. radio upgrade, video, etc...

By the way the glass sensor sucks balls, don't get it, get a second shock sensor, a motion sensor, and a tilt sensor, that is all you need, and adjust them properly. I have my motion sensors to only trigger within the cabin, they work great, leave the windows down, as soon as someone pokes the hand in, Bam it goes off, or the second shock with high sensitivity making it go off if a hard tap hits any of the glasses. So, you really don't need the glass microphone sensor

My next addition will be a pin trigger at the Gas Lid, since these suckers don't have any security to prevent someone to suck your fuel out...

Viper 5901? Damn, that aint a bad price at all.

I paid about 330$ for a 5902, and another $250 for a local place to install it. They did a kickass job, I'm very happy. FYI they mentioned that the keyfobs on the 5901s sucked as far as battery life went. Might wanna look into the 5902s. Check Amazon.com for the deals, thats where I got my kit and all the modules.

Bear in mind, the installer guys mentioned about the 5901s having crap battery life, that was my only source hearing that. Be vigilant in your research!

My truck came with an "AUTO PAGE" 2 way remote start alarm on my manual 6 speed it is sweet...I had the old Viper 591 back in the day...

Only thing i didnt like about the older ones was that if you pressed the button on the remote btu were out of range it woudl apprear as it accepted the signal...and when you get to teh car you realize it didnt actualy work...Did they fix this issue...my new AUTOPAGE check to see fi it is in range first...so you never have to 2nd guess if it actually worked...It confirms after everything has started up.

it would be sick to see an DYI Alarm/Remote start for this. I'd even pay a few bucks to see that.
