I believe I am at or around two months quit now. I still want to pick one up, almost every single day. I live in a house of smokers, so it's been hard. If I see someone light up, I still wish I had one. Being outside (and I'm outside all the time) still makes me want one. The current stress does not make it any easier, but so far, so good...
I'd been a smoker since I was 17, and am 22 now. Glad I decided to quit now, rather than later, even though it's hard.

Stay with it. You will be glad you did. What do they ever do for you other than give you something to do at the moment. Now that you quit have you noticed how bad smokers stink?

Started smoking at age 14 cause it was cool. Cigs were less than 50 cents a pack. Some times it made me feel kinda queasy and I didn't really like the smell but all my freinds smoked so I just kept doing it. 14 years later a coworker got the bad news. The last time I saw him he was wacked on morphine and alternately smoking and sucking on oxygen. I threw my pack of coffin nails in a trash can that day. He died a few weeks later. He was only 52. It's been 30 years and I still don't miss it. On a happier note I was into racing bicycles and motorcycles when I quit and once the bad effects worked their way out I started smoking the competition instead. I've been addicted to the checkered flag ever since.

I was a 1.5 to 2 pack a day smoker for over 20 years, I started vaping 6 months ago and worked my nicotine intake down to zero. Once down to zero I realized my vape was like a passifier so I quit that too. It's only been a few days but I've had drinks over the weekend and it doesn't really bother me, that was the part I was worried about. Congrats to all that quit and don't give up to those that really want to.

If you are seriously thinking about it I'll send you mine with two batteries and cords and tanks and everything I used to quit. Edit, didn't realize how old this thread was. Offer still stands though.

I quit smoking cold turkey about 3 years ago this after decades of smoking. The occasional cravings will still be there, but they subside pretty quick. The longer your quit the easier it gets. I'm at the point where the smell makes me want to gag.

every time you fall off the wagon, it's harder to quit the next time. So be strong all of you and good luck! Its the most worthwhile challenge that wont cost you a single penny to do.

It's worth it. I think the hardest part is do you actually want to quit or are you quitting because everyone else wants you to. In other words are you sick of smoking or do you enjoy smoking. If you still enjoy smoking you have to find a substitute. I took up weight lifting. I was able to quit with out the weight gain issue that makes so many people reluctant to quit

You are correct in that you have to want to quit (like heroin)

I'm not sure why people are willing to try heroine knowing the dangers. It's an instant physical addiction and unlike cigarettes one can not quit cold turkey. Detox is brutal.

I quit cold turkey on April 1st 2013. I had smoked about a pack a day for about 15 years. Quit once for about two years then some stuff came up in life and I fell back on that old friend. When I did finally quit the 2nd time around I was done with them. I count myself lucky that I was able to resist the urges and cravings. To this day the smell of tobacco smoke makes me sick to my stomach.

To all in this thread, good luck and keep up the good work

I know a guy who quit heroin, he said it was like having the flu for 2 weeks. He still smokes.
