On another note. I messed with my spring pack, BAMF relocation towers and figured out how I am going to mount the 12" Shocks.

I am going to set it up so the shock has 5" up travel and 7" of down. I think by removing the upper overload leaf in my dakars I can get close to the 5" of up. The main leaf goes into negative arch but according to ARB that is typical of the dakars.

I probably wont be able to get the full 7" of down without reworking the shackles as they seem to limit the last few inches but it will work for now.

I think I linked that thread in my brief writeup of rear mid travel setups too so it should be in here somewhere.

Thanks man, I honestly don't understand the 'difficulty' hype with shackle flip. Perhaps most people are using lower grade drill bits without lube? I barely spent any time with the drill, and heck my pilots were mostly off center... and crooked. Can't say it enough, quality tools make this job a breeze.

Can't beat plasma, it's the optimal route for sure.

I'm still impressed with what a quality bit can do. Glad this job forced me to upgrade from the crap I normally use.

Are you utilizing all of your shock when drooped? Looks like it should be drooping more with a shackle flip.

Oh okay. Could be camera angle making it look like that too.

Mine were a total bitch. Although I didn't have a HC rear or remove my bed to do it at the time so really getting decent angles for drilling were out. Air hammer did nothing cause my compressor was shite, so then I just used a torch and those rivets were out in 40 minutes for both sides. Also my ATO mount holes didn't quite line up with my OEM holes so I had to drill those out some more. Most of the time it doesn't go as easy as you made it sound haha.

Do you have the D29 XL add a leaf?

No, ran it for a month or two but went with a different set up after messing around with some things. Spring rate was way to high with that AAL.

 Just showing what can happen if people spend the time to tweak and tune their set up.

Is it the shackle setup that ended up working better or did you add/remove leafs?

So.. all this shock relocate, shackle flip, and flex talk have me feeling inadequate.. :pout:

I dont think I use my truck to its full potential to require all this MT maximization..

My Kings with the BOSS pack have served me well for the trips and terrain we do.. but.. I cant help to want more and get everything I can out of my setup. Maybe down the road.

To be honest what you have is probably more than adequate for most people. I debated for a long time to do a relocation and even now I wonder if I should have just put the OEM replacement kings in and went with those.

In the end I have an addiction to tinkering and I will admit it, sometimes I tinker without even needing to.
