Our winch tubs, which are .250" are full height, then in combination with a .135" fascia (.385" for the math impaired) you have a pretty solid surface. Our shackle mounts are inserted through holes then welded front and rear. The attached crappy pics are from the FJ bumper but are the same and will give you and an idea of what I'm saying.

    Me too! :)

It ain't gonna be easy. As usual, it's like fitting 10lbs of poop in a 5lb bag. When we first look at it we are "Oh yeah... plenty of room"... and hour later "Ummm... we need 1/4 more here... oh wait.. no, can't move that.. uhhhh"

And the 16 is very tough dimensionally and in design. We did 2+ hours of measuring and head scratching, at the end I think we have a way to make it happen but certain things are evident.

    1. As with our other bumpers, the plastic behind the chin will have to removed. I was hoping to get around that but it just ain't gonna happen.
    2. The power steering cooler (similar to the Tundra) pushes things forward 3-4" more and the shape of the nose compounds issues. There is NO way a winch will fit with a solenoid box on top...which in and of itself isn't the end of the world as I anticipated this and have already been working on solenoid mounts and remote cable attachment points, so we are ahead there.
    3. Winch selection will be limited to non integrated winches, no question about it. Not a big deal.

We have some solutions to all of this that are pretty slick and will involve some other companies we know so this should be a lot more involved than out other bumpers to bring to market but at the end of the day should be pretty cool and a very similar install compared to our other bumpers....IF we can pull it all off.

My prototype guys are in Daytona this week so we'll dive in to it next week. Stay tuned.

A few pics for something to look at. The third shows the steering cooler... even if we located it rearwards, which we may have to do, it only gives us another 1.5-2" max.

I had one of your winch mounts on my FJ and loved it. I am super interested in one for my Gen2 Tacoma, will your group buy be only for the Gen 3 mounts?

If you do open it up to all please include some mount and winch combos. I want a Come-Up winch to go with the mount.

    Thanks.

Based on the pics, I have no idea how you're going to make that work without seriously decreasing the approach angle. I am however, looking forward to your solution and bolting one onto my truck.

We will NOT decrease the approach angle.. or we just won't build it. But yes.. .it's going to be tight....hey, we are creative guys though. :)

Sounds like there will still be a lower lip. Can you flatten out the lower lip? :D

Thanks for the reply! The only reason I raised this question was the Pelfreybuilt debacle with their aluminum 4Runner bumper having these same type of shackles through-welded with thin plate and the potential to crack or simply rip out of the bumper (aluminum models). Looks solid as hell. Thanks for sharing!
