Great deal on a 6.5" Clarion DVD/iPod receiver!

    I just bought a Clarion VX409 6.5" DVD/iPod receiver on Newegg.com for an amazing price. Everywhere else it was at least $330, even with a huge discount. Newegg has it for $199! I bought it along with the Scosche dash kit that is $30. For the iPod, you will need to buy the CCUIPOD2 cable. I got it from Amazon for about $30. You might be able to use the CCUIPOD1 cable(it mentions it on Clarion's website), its about $10 on ebay.
    If anyone is looking for a dvd/ipod receiver, this is a hard deal to beat!

    I might have to snag this and then a dash kit from crutchfield. The ipod cable is on Amazon for $30 bucks. I wonder if I am capable of installing this myself....

    Wish it had some sort of security though...removeable face or something.

    Strange, because there was no mention of it being on sale when the price was at $199. I'd be willing to bet that someone at Newegg accidentally listed it at $199 instead of $299! Fixed the glitch...
    Still, at $299 it is $30 less than the closest competitor and has free shipping. That will pay for the dash kit.

    Actually, I first saw it for $199 on Thursday. I bought mine on Saturday night, so it definitely wasn't a Cyber Monday deal.

    I must have got it at the very last second, really glad I did. That unit has pretty solid reviews and MSRP is 599. Does anyone know if the wiring harness comes with the dash kit?

    It comes with a wiring harness for the receiver, but you will need one for the Tacoma too. Get it on Amazon.

    Just got my Clarion VX409, CCUIPOD2 cable, Toyota wiring harness and Scoche dash kit! I will install it tonight and post photos and a preliminary review later!

    No pics yet, but I have installed the VX409. So far so good! The sound quality is MUCH better than the factory unit(even with stock speakers) and has much greater volume output. I love the fact that it has a volume knob, I hate buttons!
    I have yet to watch video on it since I haven't bothered hooking up the wire to the parking brake. Tomorrow I'm gonna try making a bypass using a relay.
    I'll post photos once I'm done!

    Ok, the head unit is installed and working! I also made a bypass switch so that video playback will work without having to engage the parking brake(don't worry, it's for the passenger's use only!)
