My build and preparations are based around watching other people take on the obstacles, break their shit, laugh, help them, go home. I have never used a winch for self recovery that wasn't intentional.

That being said, my priorities are tires, (mine are stock size no loft, and effective as shit) winch, cb, tools. I had enough tools on that snow run to replace the engine in your taco. Saw, sawzall, electric impact, drill. Air. Camera.

And in deep snow, don't be a vagina, air down to 7.

Just don't try to drift or turn cookies too much.

    With all this preparation talk...
I was able to snag some weld on BAMF sliders from a fellow WA taco owner on here. Only problem is... I don't have a welder, nor the skills necessary if I did, to install them correctly. Is there any recommendations on places to take my truck to on the north side of Seattle( I live in Lake Stevens) or is there anyone on here that I could pay to provide this service? Thanks for any future recommendations!

I think we'll enjoy wheeling with you.
I think tires are a very good first step. You might consider another route, if you haven't purchased the tires yet. A more aggressive tire paired with a cheap steel wheel that you use for wheeling, and then a separate set for street use. It's a system that works for me, but you need to be able to store and change... Sliders are also on my list, but I'd rate them on what you want to tackle. If you're ok with bypassing an obstacle, they fall down on the list. They're way higher than skids on my list though. The lift... Often goes with tires. That's part of why I'm running stock sized tires for my off road stuff.
You've got a damn good start on the basics.
Snow - It's a pretty common practice to use the biggest rig to break trail, followed by someone capable of rescuing the biggest rig. Then you run a mix of the lightest thru the midsized rigs, and the rear is followed by someone that doesn't need help. Basically you set yourself up to make recovery the easiest. One side effect is that the least capable rig is about 3 from the front where they can watch the first few struggling through shit, which is educational.

Saw that once. Scared the crap out of me but it seemed to work! I need to study up on my redneck mechanics! I think they may have used BBQ lighter fluid? Starting fluid would be awesome! BOOM!

Nice! Welcome  Try Torfab in Muklteo, last I heard they were crazy busy but its been a while. Other than that there is olympic 4x4 in Snohomish (not sure what they would charge though). Another option is Mule Expedition outfitters but they are a little more pricey, they would do an amazing job though

I will give Torfab a call tomorrow and see what they will quote me. Oly 4x4 used to be super expensive. I feel like they used to raise prices for anyone in a Yota . I have never heard of Mule Expedition before! I will have to look into them as well. Thanks for all the info!

    Because...Russians!
Really want to try that now! Just worried about my fingers. Might add long needle nose to my tool kit.

I am in Lake Stevens too and have a set of BAMF sliders sitting in my garage I just need to paint up before I get them welded on. I don't have anybody for sure yet but I am going to talk to my cousin and see if his buddy that owns a weld shop up off Getchell can do them or if he knows anyone better. I will let you know if I find anything out.

They are definitely a Jeep shop, but nice guys in the show room area. Mule has done some extensive work on my truck and its top notch honestly. Little pricey but worth it IMO if you need something done, incredibly nice people.

That would also be awesome. I would usually rather give my money to someone on here rather than a shop but I will do whatever it takes at this point. I just want these things on my truck!

Where is the Mule shop located? I have been creeping on your build for a while and it is pretty impressive! I grew up in Snphomish so it's kind of cool to see so many awesome Tacos in the area.

I have a friend in Monroe that does a lot of fab work for himself, welding sliders would be a piece of cake(he just finished SAS'ing his 4Runner). I'm sure he has the time and would be interested in making a few bucks doing it for you guys, he loves Toyota's.

Let me know if you guys want me to ask him.

I always keep an eye out. My truck is mostly stock for now but I am rocking a TW sticker in my canopy. I will definitely try to attend a meetup soon . I gotta miss the February meet-up cause I'll be in New Zealand but when I get back I would like to meet some of these local folks.
