Lol I knew someone was going to ask about the jack stand. I always used my uncle's but no longer have one since I came out here. I did put it up on cement blocks though right after I took this photo. By the time I started working on it I of course had so much grease there was no way I was touching my phone to take another pic.

I took some pictures to show my setup, well, sort of. But this is my radio and the cable and connector that I was talking about. I also took a picture of what the aftermarket antenna would look like. There are many, many different kinds of aftermarket antennas that you can buy that are dual band antennas. The Baofeng UV-5R is a dual band 2m/70cm radio. With the setup like this and if you were to get, for example, the 2meter Mirage B-34 RF Amp, you will boost your RF power output to about 35W! Combine this to a mag mount or a frame mount (i.e. to your truck) you would have a pretty decent setup. Technially, you now have a "mobile" in your truck and it can easily be portable... just don't forget to bring your aftermarket antenna or keep it somewhere safe in your truck! Also, you would also now have 35W output of your radio to another radio for Simplex setups as well. Your range will definitely increase many times over with 35W. Just in case you're interested.

Hope this helps you guys a little bit.

    Happy Wheel'n people

People, when you mount the f-f SMA adapter... DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!!! Don't "jungle gym/man handle the thing" when tightening!!! It will definitely snap off and you, more than likely, will not be able to remove the broken piece. Pretty obvious feel when tightening the SMA barrel adapter on to the radio... just a gently "snug" fit is all it needs to be.

Btw, the pigtail acts like a "strain relief" for that radio's antenna port. You NEVER want to connect a larger cable up to a smaller connector because it will snap the connector off!!!

After I got recovered from the top of a shitty side trail because I couldn't get out in reverse, two jeeps rolled thru and one guy said "the truck looks good tho". I laughed, and said "have fun driving 10 mph everywhere, asshole."

    PL-259_cable.jpg CB_spring.jpg FireStik_K-64A.jpg
If you already have a FireStik then you just need a CB mount of some kind that comes with the antenna "adapter" (some don't). See the picture of what is handy to have. The spring will help prevent an unwanted SNAP in case of "low bridge" situations!!! Saved me one time... LOL!!! Anyways, the cable should be around 18ft or so due to, if I remember correctly, harmonics. Anyways, 18ft is supposed to be the magic number for CB cable length. The mounting bracket that you see, I have that mounting bracket and have it mounted to the bed of my truck. In my case, however, I had to cut one end off and re-terminate the cable because of how I wanted to route the cable. In your case, I would just route the cable outside the window area (i.e. roll down your window) and run the wire back to the FireStik antenna/mount. I'll take a picture of it if you want. I don't have a problem with that, if you want to see it? Anyways, see the pictures and hope it helps you out on your build.

    1x 18ft PL-259 to PL-259 cable
1x FireStik K-64A (comes with the bracket and the antenna mount/adapter)
1x CB stainless steel spring mount (there are two types, one is for max 4ft ant, the second spring is for a max 5ft ant)

Helps alot man this is why I like this thread lmfao I'm pretty damn good with running wires and such but with CB's just seemed like a pain in the ass to get the SWR rating correct idk I love my ham all I did was run wire hook up call it good. Does anybody need a cb? I have one idk if it works but was given to me and told it just needs a new mic it's small and old but you can have it if you want?
