6th gear lock out?

Do you guys think it could be possible through programming to permanently lock out 6th gear on the auto? My truck gets better mpg's in 5th than in 6th. Plus when I get my 33's on 6th will be totally useless. I know there is no way to do it yet, but I'm hoping someone will come out with a tuner that has the capability. Any input?

 

Not really answering your question..BUT. I use "Manual Mode" 5th gear exclusively (dont drive highways much at all). I think of 6th gear as an highway overdrive gear only. Works just fine that way for me. Plus the added benefit of being to manually downshift to lower gears on big hills.. Lots of those around here...

 

I do the same thing but every now and then my knee will hit the shift knob and bump it over to drive. Just gets old.

 

I guess I have the benefit of being short....(never hit the shifter)..
