My family met this guy on Saturday and fell in love with him! Foster mom brought him to our house for a pre-adoption visit. By the end of the visit, she was in tears and said she couldn't let him go! She ended up keeping him for herself:(

Keep my Frenchie in your thoughts today.. she's in surgery right now for a potential bowel obstruction and an infected uterus. She hadn't eaten in 5 days while they've been trying to diagnose her since Sunday. 3 vets later and I think we have it figured out. She's pretty weak though and hope she pulls through.

She's out of surgery and doing really well. Doc found a big piece of plastic obstruction just before her large intestine, so they were able to massage it through without having to cut into her colon. Lucky! Had her spayed as well, so the uterus infection isn't even a factor now.

    Yay!

I can't wait to see what she swallowed. First time she's done that. Vet on the phone said it's some large black plastic "thing". It's probably something I've been looking for all week. We pick her up at 6pm.

    Some really cool shit
If they were able to massage it out of the colon it's probably something roundish. Without edges that would damage the colon. I had the same issue with my Chesapeake quite a few years back. He chewed off the knuckle on an allegedly 'virtually indestructible' nylon femur bone. Did it in the evening. By next days he was laid out on the ground. Not eating. Not drinking. An x-ray, two sonograms, an IV, one evening in the ICU of the vet hospital, and $2500 later, he finally passed the offending blockage without surgery. Damn near the size of a ping pong ball.

My buddies Doberman swallowed one of his kids toys left on the ground.
After many dollars and a surgery later they got it out and he kept it in a container on top of the TV as a "Look what my dog ate..." type of thing.

A few months later the dog knocked it down, broke the container, and ate the toy again.

He threw the damn thing away after the second time.
