It would be easier for me to trip a CEL and just let the computer disable it automatically.

Mine squeak like crazy. And it's only getting worse. But I've narrowed it down to the bushings, which as poly which squeak by default it seems like. I fluid filmed the actual leave and did the "zip tie" trick which helped but recently the squeak has gotten worse. Had a buddy rock the truck as I listened and watched and it was coming from the bushings for me. I love the dakars ride wise but have had a mediocre experience with everything else about them

I've done both. Both are pretty straight forward

Since we are on the subject of lifts, I'll be upgrading to Dakars here shortly. I currently have the standard travel King Remote Res shocks in the rear. Instead of getting new longer travel shocks in the rear is it possible to put a new rod in my existing Kings to lengthen the travel?

I think your only problem with that is the shock body itself needs to be longer to allow the rod to collapse fully without bottoming out and FSU.

You'd need to make sure your bump stops are on par. If replacing just the rod is an option.

I've done that, no more, a transmission jack is worth it. Harbor Freight has a transmission holder that replaces the pad on a floor jack.

Ah that makes sense. I really enjoy these shocks, but im not looking to drop another $1k into rear shocks. I might just go with the Icon 2.0 aluminum rears that allow for 3" of lift.

I went to go get my passenger window tinted today because someone busted it out. And the guy didn't have the same tint film as the last time so he couldn't match it that well. So i decided to get all 4 windows redone. 20% over the factory rear (which should be between 5-10%), and then 13% in the front. No tint on the back window because the canopy is there.

Help me understand... did you combine the Icon AAL with the Dakar leaf pack? I was looking at all the stuff on Wheelers as well, something around stage 5 if I recall. If I call up Wheeler, would they be able to work with me on what makes sense? I never did business with them so I don't know how knowledgeable they are.

Keep in mind this is a ways off. A week after I bought the Tacoma, I found out that I blew the front struts on the Evo, so coilovers for that sonofab*tch will have to come first.

Yeah man for sure. I called up Dan at Wheelers and had them pre-install the OME AAL into the OME Dakar leaf springs and ship them together. (No tax either cause Oregon) That was like 500 bucks, plus 400 for the icon shocks, and then he sold me the shims and driveline drop kit which i never used.

The icon AAL does not go with the Dakar leaf pack, only into the OEM leaf pack. Make sure you talk to Dan at Wheelers for the TW discount though

Mine squeaks in reverse. Damn u-joints! But yeah, all aftermarket leaf packs seem to do that. My IronMans used to squeak. I haven't heard in awhile. I may have either lubed it up enough, or they just broke in finally.

Oh, ok, thanks for the explanations guys, that makes sense.

So the consensus here is to NOT install any diff drop or shims, but that doing the driveline drop is a good idea? I think I need to start doing a search on that topic and stop asking noob questions.

Wait until after you install your rear lift and see if you have any vibrations. If you do then go ahead and order/install the carrier bearing drop. Shims mainly help with axle wrap which is when your rear end hops, carrier bearing drop can help with that too.
