CALICO's 2014 Build Thread

Someone asked that question at the bottom of the listing and said no. I'm new to this kinda stuff so can't give you much insight on what requires a license and what doesn't. What I have seen though is that many people said that if your unlicensed and keep to the empty channels you should be ok. Apparently one of the fastest ways to get fined is being unlicensed and trying to use the same channel a licensed operator is using. Again I'm new to this stuff and plan on getting a license before actually using it, but to each their own.

The girlfriend had to go to work this morning and Nashville was getting hammered with a snow storm, so I had to drive her. Here's when it first came out of the garage.





While we were gone we ran into two vehicles stuck on a hill, one got stuck while trying to pull out the other one. I dug away the snow and ice enough for the tires to get traction and they both backed back down the hill. Once I got back to my truck another guy trying to turn around got stuck so I had to do the same. During all that the gf got called off work.... Oh well back home!

Tons of snow on the truck!





Scraped off as much as possible before I pulled it back into the garage. No reasons to start an indoor flood!



It's still coming down.


As soon as I got home I got some TRED4x4 1100s and an ARB snatch strap off the interwebs.

 

this storm just put winch way up on my list.

 

Yup. The price point on the smittybilt x20 has got me interested. Although the the warn 10s Platinum is bad ass but pricey.

Got the hi lift and mount in today. I decided to mount it in the bed with the Pelfreybilt mount. I've got to mod it a little to make it lock. Also about a couple weeks ago I installed the BPF Cooling panel. Not really convinced it's improving the engine cooling, but it does make it look cleaner and provides a nice shelf. I'll take pics tomorrow.

That one in the quote is not mine. But I got the fuse block and circuit breaker off Amazon I believe. I don't recall how much I can check my history in a few minutes and let you know. The panel is from pelfreybilt. On the ditch lights @sidetracked has great deals just send them a PM. Mine are relentless fabrication brackets with little brass spacers painted black. I believe the others are CBI.

They work really well. I have them in the driving pattern and use them as ditch lights.

Thank man! I think eventually I'll wire in a switch in the cab too with the lockers. At the moment this is all I need.

 

Finished mounting up the Hi Lift with a Pelfreybilt mount. Once the damn Fedex truck arrives I'll have my TRED 1100s and get those mounted ASAP.

 

What made you go with treads? And such a clean install of everything you do man keep it up
