Yeah I got stuck but that's because I was winching a car for 50 feet. I got pulled into the deep stuff and lost my traction

You can try these guys out, they are friends of mine who opened their own shop a few years back. Frank and Austin are honest guys I bet they can quote you a respectable price for the job done. or also maybe try a friend I know who ran the repair shop on station road in Bellport, I think it was called Montis. Chris is a cool guy who loves big boy toys.

Assuming you only need to do the fronts right? it is pretty simple, buy some parts and some beers I bet we can get a few of us together drinking to do a one man job :)

I am all for doing brakes myself, however, I never learned. I have built Jeeps/Trucks, but never touched brakes. I am buying a house next week, so maybe an impromptu TacomaW get together/brakes/beer at the new place sounds good. I will inform the wife and start searching the interwebs for brakes. Suggestions on brand?

As far as brands go I always like installing oem pads and rotors as I feel they always seem to "fit" better with the least of issues, many times aftermarket stuff brings out a file or two for small little stubborn imperfections . That being said you can save a pretty penny getting aftermarket pads and rotors, I know aftermarket pads can in many cases yield less or more dust and noise. There are a hand full of good aftermarket brands I would just stay away from the absolute bottom of the barrel stuff. As for tools pretty sure I have everything covered, the fronts are simple 4pot calipers. A long island TW mod meet would be awesome, been in the works and talks for some time count me in.

I am not one to skimp, especially when I need something durable and lifesaving. It looks like I am busy moving/traveling out of town etc until March, so any Saturday in March is perfect. EDIT: It looks like Feb 20 is also available for me. It would be nice to meet up.

sounds good, weekends are best for me, and if you can hold out as long as you can for some warmer temps even better, how many miles on your current pads and rotors? are the rotors pretty shot and vibrating the steering wheel when on the brakes? has your dashboard brake light come on? I am sure you can find a huge thread on here about pad and rotor brand selection along with reviews raves and complaints.

I am looking at over 75K on the current pads/rotors. They are stock, however, I do have the six-inch lift and pushing 35s. The XD Addict wheels are not light either. I think early on I wore a driver's side ball joint. The tire wear is pretty bad there again. The brakes do not feel as nice as my other cars, so that I why I think I should replace them. They could probably last until Summer, but the sooner the better. With the lifted Tacoma, it's imperative to keep up with some PMs. I have a slew of things I need to accomplish soon. The drivetrain needs to be lubed and the tires should be replaced soon along with an alignment. I snapped a driveshaft a couple of years ago and had to replace it, $ ouch. My wheels/tires are putting crazy wear on everything undercarriage, I need to get some focus to that area in lieu of polishing and driving fast all the time.

Thought: maybe we should all meet at a micro-brewery like Blue Point or Great South Bay? I am also open for anything in Riverhead like Mustache or Crooked Ladder. This weekend is actually open for something like that.

I have so much hate for this calcium chloride salt mixture that my truck barely leaves my driveway unless I absolutely need it.

I have a standard civic as DD. Rinsing isn't enough sometimes, you need a good hour or so of running water under the truck to wash all the salt off. I use a fan sprinkler for that but my water is off for the winter so the lines don't freeze.

I had a nice '04 Civic but sold it, I regret it. It averaged 40 mpg. By rinsing, I usually hit a self car wash in the winter.

Anyone up for a micro-brewery this weekend? Blue Point, Great South Bay, Crooked Ladder, Mustache, etc............

If we can get a our hands on a grease gun we can all do our zirk fittings also great idea, I have not done it yet at just under 50k miles and not sure if it has been done properly while serviced at Toyota when the original owner had it.I can do a brewery, though my .22lr should be here this week and I am diggin to go plink around.
