    Ok, but let's take weather as example. Let's say the posted speed limit is 55mph; however the roads are wet from snow, and maybe frozen. Does it still make it ok to go the posted speed limit or drive what is safe at the time?

    If there were extreme pot holes (as indicated by a sign) why would you want to go the posted speed limit, but not slow down to be more cognizant of your surroundings?

    Believe it or not, they're trying to be helpful, but rude comments won't help your situation, but rather worsen it.

    On another note, you shouldn't blame Toyota for warranty work due to driver error. You were aware of the pot holes, but still decided to drive the road you were traveling on at the posted speed limit, where damage can occur rather than slowing down and being more cautious.

    I guess i should have been going slower than the big rigs and passenger sedans so as to not void my warranty on the truck i just dropped 40k on.

    I hit a pothole on a hwy going under the speed limit- i wish i could have avoided it.

    I'm not blaming anyone- not sure why ppl feel the need to protect Toyota?

    There are definitely nice ppl on this forum- there are also a lot of ppl who like to start shit. I posted pretty much just for fun and to let ppl speculate as to what the problem might be- the point has been lost for me.

    Thanks to those who offered helpful input.

    I guess i will see what the dealership says.

    So technically, coming from a law enforcement point of view, Toyota isn't liable for their product not performing outside of it's normal, prescribed range. And you really can't go after the city/county/municipality/state due to the fact there was a posted warning/notice. Going to the dealership and claiming this under warranty work isn't the right course of action. You could morally have them do an inspection to determine the cause of that sound, but having them replace parts and cover labor under warranty only hurts the rest of us. This is the point where you chime in and say "really bro, ah fuck, come on you hater". Eh, no, Bro. I understand dropping $40k on a new ride and doing something you hadn't intended. But please, for the love of god, do not come onto a forum of enthusiasts and basically tell us all that warranty work for actual defects is going to be harder to get approved because guys like you assume Toyota is liable for whatever happens to your truck. Take some responsibility for your actions and man up.

    That all being said, I'm glad you weren't involved in an accident, ESPECIALLY with a pregnant wife.

    Like others have said, trying to get warranty work hurts the rest of the community when they actually have a defect in workmanship thanks to deletes having to warranty work that isn't defective...kind of like how when a kid jumps his moms truck and totals in in the desert, and then files an insurance claim and they pay out...causing everyone else's rates to go up

    I handle all the warranties for our shop and this is the type of custy that can drive us nuts. I start with education and then hope they understand how selfish their request is and how it over steps the stated and intended warranty. If not, we usually don't do much business together after that. It's simply not fair to our business, our vendors, or as others have said, our customers. I truly hope the OP sees how his scenario doesn't fit the program and takes credit for his mistake. It's the only way we learn not to repeat them.
