Many requests here are so unrealistic...not gonna happen...may be at the REFRESH (2018-19 maybe). This is my list
1- POWERED seat (just a driver side if you are so cheap, Toyota)
2- Side mirrors defrost (damage it is COLD here and mirrors was iced all over)
3- Garage opener for ALL models
4- Rear disc brakes (may be 2018-19)
5- Powered rear window (may NEVER happen)
    6- 2.0L Turbo-4 to replace the 4-cylinders (2018-19)

Split up all options instead of lumping everything into one premium and tech option.
    Optional leather in TRD OR.
    JBL in TRD OR 6MT
    Bi-xenon HID projectors.
Non-touchscreen radio with USB connection for smartphone in center console.
    Front locker option.
    Electronic sway bar disconnect option.
Can choose which grill you want regardless of model.
Optional TRD wheels (black T4R pro 17s to be specific)
    Optional BFG KO2's and/or KM2's

Built as ordered instead of building what they want and making people get in line. This wouldn't be a problem if they made more TRD OR 6MT's but they hardly make any as is.

Your wish for a non-touchscreen radio might be possible but it will still have a screen regardless as all auto manufacturers are required to begin to implement backup cameras in all vehicles per new federal standards.

A screen is fine as long as it has decent pixel density. In the past Toyota put the back up camera screen in the rear-view mirror which is cool to me. I just don't like touchscreens in cars because they are garbage, especially when compared to current smartphones. I'd rather not have one if it's going to be garbage.

You think the one in the 2016 is garbage? I find it to be the fastest one in any car I've had in the past 6 years. VW has a really shitty one in their Passat TDI, my wife constantly has lag issues with it. I would like to see HID headlights though, not sure why the Limited got projector Halogens as the top trim, should have had HIDs. They work fine as is though, just something to see for 2017.

That's nice to hear. Hopefully its better than I expect.

I admit I don't have extensive experience with the 3rd gen touchscreen but I have never seen a car touch screen that even comes close to an iPhone and that includes Range Rovers, Porsches, Lexus, BMW, MBZ etc... I suspect the new MBZ iPad like screens might be up to par but I have yet to try one. Maybe the Tacoma's is decent enough but I don't like the redundancy of music and gps control across a smart phone and vehicle head unit. In every case I've seen the smart phone is superior so I'd rather just use it and trim out the fat in the head unit. It's very much so a personal preference, I imagine many would disagree with me.

You realize that that is an "X3" you posted a picture of... Look at the headlights. Also, you do realize that Dakar race cars are tubular frame race builds with a body that looks like said "X3" but in no way is the car it looks like? It's a fiberglass body. Think of NASCAR.

By the way, X5's are the worst BMWs next to 7 Series.

I agree with what the others say.. you need to go back to Luxury as a Toyota Tacoma will never be what you are asking for.

Thank you for pointing that out, you are right about the X3 and it being a tubular frame. However there have been X5's on consumer chassis that have competed in Dakar in the past. If you need proof, just google it.

I disagree about X5's being the worst vehicle, I've had many of them and they give me very little trouble. Then again, I've never hung on to one longer than 3 years. I think Land Rover's have a worse track record.

I think your confused about what this thread is about. Please read the OP again. From what I read there are many things in my list that others want as well. So there's no need for you or others to single me out. If you are here to judge others then You have too much time on your hands.

I knew well what I was getting with a Tacoma and I'm happy with it. I got a Tacoma for its utility, and if I want to go back to luxury I still have another BMW in the garage, so I'm covered.

Have to be careful of what we wish for, If we want everything a Beemer offers, we will be paying that price for our Toyota's! Then we will be wishing, for "The Good Ole Days" when they were built for a reasonable price, like now! Also most of us do not need race ready vehicles to do our daily comuting and weekend chores/recreation/trips.

I just thought I'd share with you guys something that has worked out good for me. My husband bought these things he put under the back of the seat. It raised the seat about an inch which was just enough so that I don't need to sit on a folded up moving blanket any more. They were inexpensive and it only took him like 5 minutes to install them. He bought them from Visual Diagnostics/4Crawler Offroad in Sunnyvale CA. They are called Seat Lift Kits. It's not as good as a manual or power seat that raises and lowers but it has helped. Shame on Toyota to make such a great truck and leave out something so simple .

How about putting the 4.00 V6 back in it. I drove the 3.5 V6 for about an hour last week & was not impressed, I like the ft end on the Land Cruiser as well (Full Bumper)

Dump the POS engine and put something in there with some guts. Toyota might already be addressing. For the rear window why not something like the Sporttrac's full width power window. It was great for backing up at night. Get rid of the LEDs strips on the front and spend the money on something useful. Yes the truck is already expensive but why make it more expensive with crap like glove box lights.

The biggest thing I would change is Toyota's ridiculous marketing strategy. It's embarrassing to have to sit through all of those stupid and insulting commercials with explosions and smoke bombs and flying BMX riders.

Remember when Toyotas were designed to be the damn-close-to-perfect work trucks, designed for grown-ups with work to do? Remember when they did everything you asked of them, got great mileage and went forever? I really miss those days.

I mostly couldn't care less about most of the tech options or more and more hp. I just want a truck for work and for getting dirty on the weekends. Something like this:
-A smaller truck, maybe much smaller, would be adequate. Easier maneuvering and more efficient.
    -Boxed frame.
    -Much better rust protection.
    -Better mileage.
-Engines and transmissions that lend the same confidence I had in my Toyota trucks from the past. I seriously doubt that my current Tacomas will last 3 or 400,000 miles.
-Rear windows that open in the access cab and a rear window that rolls down in every cab configuration.
-A metal bed that doesn't crack and that will support a real over-the-cap rack system.
-Manual hubs or at least a manual transfer case shifter.
-Auto stick on the column and e-brake on the floor, opening up all sorts of valuable cab space for storage or office-on-the-go space.
-I'd love it if I could buy a Tacoma with a standard aluminum flatbed.

I'm a general contractor with Tacomas and full-size american trucks in the fleet. I'll probably replace the Tacomas with new Tacomas when it's time, but if someone would build a smaller, stronger, more dependable work truck, I'd buy it tomorrow.
