and a feeble mind it is.....

If I have you figured out, and I'm sure I do, you may remember I joined the two of you on the top of that sandy hill.
As far as the mud pit goes, the "similarly equipped truck" would have been Charlie who also did not make it through.

Hey, thanks for playing though! :D

Thanks for pointing out how much better equipped my 1st gen is, so much so that it can't even be compared. :D

Too bad Michelin's don't come in 35s. One could say the lack of a larger size is holding you back based on all the turtles.

Actually, all the turtles have had an interesting side effect.

My exhaust is pretty well up against the skid now so I get a pretty cool growl when it vibrates. At first, it would only happen when I put it in reverse. Now it happens any time randomly.

I suppose I'm going to have to break down and reroute the exhaust.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
I had that vibration also, until I got my reroute.

Sorry if i missed it in your thread, but what topper do you have? Do you like it? I've been thinking of changing mine out for a taller one, but i do have the long bed.

It's an ARE MX. I really like the extra head room.

I've yet to build a sleeping platform but I've thought about it and I don't think I'd like it very much if I had a cab high topper.

Yeah i'm in the same boat, trying to decide whether to build a platform/drawers and get a taller cap, or build a bed rack and get the ever popular RTT. Thing is i use the bed quite a lot just for moving stuff around. i do like being able to lock things like bikes in the back too though... decisions!

I think your truck would look wicked with a roof rack though! something like the prinsu, so it would line up flush with your canopy!

your truck is dope as is though

I've had thoughts of putting an RTT on a rack over the cab. That would put the wife and I in the RTT and the kiddos in the bed. Not sure how much I'd actually do that though so I haven't pulled the trigger yet.
Then there's the issue of what to do with it when I'm not using it. I have a frame on a pulley system hanging from the roof of the garage that I use to remove and store the topper when I want or need it off. I suppose if I wanted I could set up another next to it to do the same with an RTT but honestly a rack and RTT is more money than I'm liable to find in the couch cushions so....

I've thrown the kids' bikes in the bed under the topper and I think an adult bike with the front wheel removed would fit too. Pretty sure I've seen it done.

With RTT you have to consider ga rage door opening height. Unless you have a 9 to 10 foot door you are not gonna get in the garage to use the pulley system.

Honestly, for me, an RTT is one of those things that sounds really cool but reality is I would probably very seldom use it.
Since the truck is a DD for me, I'd want the tent off of it 99% of the time.
I see a roof rack as either a place to mount a tent or a place to store stuff when the truck is so packed to the gills that there's no room for anything else.
I haven't run into that situation yet so a rack would just be an EAF bling accessory.

It's usually just me on overnight camping excursions and I really do like the simplicity of just crashing in the bed.

I do think I'll build a sleeping platform though in the name of simplicity so I don't have to pull stuff out of the bed and stash it under the truck to sleep.

I love the MX shell. The extra space is worth every penny to me, and overall probably the most useful mod to the truck.

There are a few neat DCSB sleeping platforms I've seen done here on TW. I wanted one, but never got around to building one, and then the fridge showed up so, no go for me.

I like the simple concept. Simple is usually best for me.

They work great until you're like Leo or I and get the things over 100 pounds of spare parts, tools, fluids, random stuff, etc. Due to the weight mine is rather inconvenient, and Eric verbally abuses you when you ask for help lifting it out.

Sleeping platform is on my short list. Just going to be limited by my cab-height topper.

You missed the part where I said I got two. Split the weight between them and keep it manageable
