"more to offer".. I really doubt that... all this electronic shit... I-phone crap... traffic sensors....etc, etc...

They can shove those thing where the sun don't go.... Give me a truly reliable truck, with the capabilities I want and those other brands can try and win over the kids with all the "bells & Whistles"... Give me a good reliable truck... that's all I want...

I find it funny how you say that and own a TRD sport with upgrade package, which is all about extra whistles.

So let me get this straight.... It's OK for them to build everything that YOU want and need. But you think it's horse-shit that they can't satisfy the needs & wants of others?

After seeing the new Ridgeline (very disappointed in it) I'm definitely getting the Tacoma.
My question is this: I really like storing gear in the Ridgeline lockable trunk.
If I get a rear cover on the Tacoma, is their an option to secure a storage box in the bed and keep it from sliding around when driving.
I'm not talking about taking up the entire bed, I still occasionally need to be able to haul stuff in the bed like ice chest or plywood

I didn't care about these things, until I did some research and discovered the only other Toyota without height adjustable seats (and rear disc brakes) is the bottom of the line Yaris. Kinda pathetic actually.

Ahhhh the ranger. The last hope for midsize truck enthusiasts. Put that v6, turbo charged motor in a mid sized lighter ranger with aluminum body. It should be powerfull, capable, and better mpg than f150. Ford has a real chance to make a dent in the midsize market. Unfortunately, ford's 1st year models always falter at first with reliability. New f150's are climbing the charts though.

I seriously doubt that Ford would (will) design an entirely new Ranger for the domestic market when the world spec Ranger is ready for the US market with minor tweaks.

I have a better chance of winning Powerball 3 weeks in a row than we do of seeing a V6 Ecoboost Ranger. Maybe a diesel, but not really a good choice from a business standpoint. Bet on a standard NA 4 cylinder and one EcoBoost 4 cyl. option (probably the lame ass 1.6) Guaranteed it will be steel bodied. Not enough volume to re-coup tooling costs.

They are making if more American friendly. Not sure what that means for an engine. But it won't look like the global minivan ranger

    Exactly my point.

It won't LOOK like it, but because the average American consumer is an incredibly stupid fuck...they won't know it's the same thing with different sheet metal.

lol @ trunkbed in the Tacoma. Maybe the Tacoma should have a little white, cotton string that hangs out from under the rear axle too.

This looks like a minivan? Looks a hell of a lot more better than the fugly 2016 Tacoma and it pains me to say that because its a Ford and a Toyota I'm talking about respectively.

I can't see them only offering a 4 cylinder in the midsize, it would be tragic. They will have to provide 6 cylinder or the current diesels offered on it may suffice for some. Deisel would be mote of a hassle for me

Ford is slowly killing off V8s, the 5.0 option for the F-150 will be gone in a year or two. The new Ranger could have an NA V6 option (no turbo V6) as well as the wheezing 4 banger and EcoBoost 4.

Remember that Ford is in an entirely different position than other truck makers. The F-150 is the profit center for Ford, they will not offer a Ranger that will lure buyers away from the F-150. The current Ranger sold elsewhere is a solid mid-size contender as is, there is little reason to alter it beyond aesthetics.

I am not my truck dude....

Plus the front end of the 2016 Tacoma changed for the worst.
