I noticed this leak today. Doesn't look like it has been going on for too long. Is this just a matter of using a new clamp or is there anything else I should be worried about? It's a seven month old cvj reman. image.jpg image.jpg

    enough to go over stuff
Two options. Put a new clamp on it and call it good. Or pull the axle. Add grease re-clamp.

Fair enough. It is probably going to be re-clamp for now. Pull and add grease in a couple weeks as this Sunday is already occupied with a truck project and next Sunday my Donkies are in the big game. Thanks!

I'd take the old clamp off, pull it back and dump some grease in, wipe the surface, then new clamp. Wouldn't even take it off the truck.

CVJs eh? I think I would clean them up and just keep an eye on it. It could just be pushing out a little grease because of the high axle angle. Stock ones will do this too but it is typically the inner not the outer like yours.

Those look like the neoprene outer boot option and not one of their high angle or OEM options, correct?

This pretty typical of older stock boots after a lift. Mine have been seeping (without tearing) since I installed the lift about 65-70K ago. It is not allowing contaminants into it. Just pushing out a little grease. You could probably ride with yours for a while as long as the boots aren't torn.

That is a pretty insignificant amount just clean up the area, and let it buck. Oil and grease like to travel. A little goes a long way.

Not enough to bother with. There's a lot of grease inside the boot, I'd guess 1/2 a cup or so.

Those are indeed the neoprene. I did the high angle inners since that's where the tear happened on both stock cv's. I'm also familiar with the tendency of the inner leak but not what mine are doing so that's why I was wondering if I should reclamp it. I'll go with the clean and monitor route for now. I just find it odd it's just now happening after having them installed for some time now (I'm under the truck a fair amount and would have noticed it before). However, I have been in 4 wheel a fair amount lately due to snow so maybe the torque on the axles is playing a part. Thanks for the input guys!
