I've always wanted a Kimber .45, well back when I shot a lot of pistol did but still wouldn't turn one down. They are spendy but worth it. My son loves his Glocks and swears by them.

They're decent guns, but not worth their price tag. Springfield builds an equal 1911 at a better value, IMO.

For the money, a Les Baer is a better buy than a Kimber for a few hundred dollars less.

Oh yeah, I shot it the evening I built it, grabbed some earplugs, a couple boxes of ammo and headed up to where I shoot, called a buddy and told him what I had built and he said he would meet me there.
He happened to not bring any EarPro so he plugged his ears while I shot and when he shot he just shoved some spent casings in his ear, he called me the next day and said his ears were still ringing.

:rofl::rofl: The 45-70 is one hell of a round isn't it, totmacher! Kinda hurts me to shoot it, and I shoot a 12 ga shotgun all day on a sporting clays course with no problem at all. I probably just need to learn how to shoulder that rifle. Naaah, that son of a bitch kicks like hell.

Pistol all day. Long guns take LOTS of practice to be proficient with. That and if you do shoot an AR indoors, I can promise you, you will only do it once... With a pistol you can manipulate doors, phone, lights, family etc. and still cycle rounds at the threat.

I figure if I'm drawing a weapon inside my home, that's a SHTF sceanario, so I'll take my full size P220 Combat that easily accessible. If it's on my property, my 870 Express Tactical loaded with alternating buck shot & slugs will suffice.

In a home defense situation, more important than the hardware, is the software.

This is lunacy. Standard spread pattern is 1" per yard so unless you've got rooms the size of football fields the "covers a lot of area" idea is simply false. Also, even #6 bird shot will penetrate two layers of drywall and maintain potentially fatal velocities. Buck shot or slugs won't even notice the wall was there. Check out some videos on YouTube by ShootingTheBull410 if you don't believe me.

Even most of the pistol rounds specifically marketed to not penetrate drywall penetrated 2-3 walls worth of drywall and penetrated 10-12" of ballistics gel.

Shot placement is all that matters. Any shots indoors that could stop an intruder will push through walls.

Having actually engaged human beings indoors overseas, a good rule of thumb is longer sight radius equals better accuracy. Rifle rounds statistically incapacitate more effectively and more immediately than pistol rounds. Unless you're deliberately breaching doors/Windows, clearing rooms, or shooting from a vehicle there is really no reason to choose a handgun over a rifle if you know you're going to fight. Handguns are really just there to help you get to your rifle.

Just my $.02. Your mileage may vary.

By software over hardware I think he just means having a brain and not doing anything stupid is more important than one firearm vs another.

^sure would help your Night vision and hearing. They say a 300 blackout is a 30/30 or 7.62x39 round. But I've read things on the Internet it turns out not to be true.
