This has nothing to do with population. People who want a truck seem to be choosing Tacoma more on the west coast vs the east.

So are you actually saying you believe Tacoma has a higher market share in California than other areas you're familiar with and wondering why that is?

Yes I would like to know why. I travel all over the US and I see far more Tacoma trucks on the road vs anywhere else I have seen.

Just like anything else , if you have no interest in something you will never see, find it but once you see it , it's every where you look
Months back I asked wife she liked the Tacoma , she said she never give them any attention but once I pointed them out , now she see them all the time.
Maybe that's the reason for it

Maybe it has to do with the number of Asian product US headquarters being based in California or the majority of US named vehicles produced in states other than (not even close really) California. Maybe it's the population mix or higher fuel cost (perceived or actual higher MPG) combined with the thought of environmental impact.

Not sure about last year but, pretty sure I read the Prius had been the number one selling vehicle in California a few years in a row recently...

This is why you can get a Tacoma back east for less than invoice. Out west, you're lucky to get them at MSRP!

there are shit ton of Tacomas around here. I see at least 5 on short every trip I make.

Because we were once owned by Mexico....the Taco is homage to our roots.

I honestly don't see that many in the bay area even though they have a ton advertised on the lots. I saw three last month in Santa Rosa when I drove through. But they have more trucks up there in general. I think that's where I was re-inspired to get a truck again to be honest.

Mostly second gens where I live.

One can never have too many light bars.
Yes. Although only for the plug in models now. Soon it's gonna just be electric only. I believe the CA rebate is $1,500 right now and the federal tax credit is either 2,000 or 2,500.

Having lived in SoCal, and now in South Carolina- there is infinitely more off roading in CA.
Also, Toyota has been headquartered in CA ever since selling Toyotas in the U.S. Market. (Soon moving to TX)

Homes and home lots are substantially smaller in CA as well- especially with newer patio type homes. Some single family homes even share property lines on a sub 5,000 sq foot lot! Home prices and rent are vastly more expensive in CA.

All this makes for smaller vehicles.

Socal also has a very strong military presence too. i see Tacomas everywhere in the Norfolk area- Similar to San Diego.
