    Hey all!

I've been lurking around here for a while and decided to finally take the plunge.

I've noticed that there is an overwhelming amount of TRD Sports and TRD ORs out there. Where are all the SR5's?

I will be buying a 16 DC 4x4 SR5 or TRD sport within the next few months. I'm having trouble deciding on which one. After perusing the forums for a while it seems that most people don't go with the SR5. Any specific reason I should know about?

    Also, let's see some SR5's!

SR5s are awesome. The TRD models just have more options; they also come with a bigger price tag. I do one or two major trips a year with over 5000 miles each trip. I looked at the SR5 with 4x4, but I needed the locking differential for the off road in the bush and in the snow when I travel from Texas to Northern Alberta by Fort McMurray.

My TRD OR 4X4 AUTO with all warranties and taxes was over $45K out the door. The SR5 was considerably cheaper, but I decided to get the OR model and enjoy some of the more options.

I love my SR5. Not missing anything I really need. Saved 5k over a trd. Didn't worry about the steel wheels since I was switching them out anyways.

Also only paid 28k for it new

I got the SR5 instead of OR/Sport due to price. Now that I've driven the SR5 for a while I am completely satisfied with my choice. There is nothing on other versions that I feel I need. The ride is comfortable, the cruise control works well, the sound system and Entune features are good enough, the 4X4 system copes well with snow and mud, it hauls my gear and tows my trailer.

I'm sure other folks like and appreciate the added features on the Sport/OR, but for me the SR5 hit just the right balance between features and price.

I just ordered my SR5 4x4 AC yesterday through Costco. The TRD OR was only about $1200 more than the SR5 but what decided it for me was the key system. I don't like the smart key on the TRD's because I can't take it in the water when I surf or kayak. With the SR5 I'll get a valet key that's a plain key that opens the door and starts engine. Kind of a lame reason I know but I'm sure I will be happy with the SR5. It will be the fanciest vehicle I've ever owned for sure! The real sucky thing is they told me it could take 3-4 months to get the truck.

Looks great in black! I'd go with an SR5 if they offer the manual trans in it. I am holding off ordering until late summer in hopes for a '17, and that the trans configurations improve.

I absolutely LOVE my SR5. Would I like a few more bells and whistles? Maybe? But do I love my truck? Absolutely! I'm getting compliments and questions about her daily. I've had her in mild off-roading conditions and she worked flawlessly. I love the ride, the power, the hauling, the towing capabilities, the looks (and hopefully the reliability), etc. Save 2-3K, buy the SR5, and enjoy!

That truck looks great! However, if I decide against the TRDS I would get the appearance and tow package with the SR
Great looking trucks! Does Toyota typically provide a 17 inch wheel option for SR5's later in the year?

Also, do you know if the radio system provides the same features as the one in TRDS? (Messaging, NAV, etc)

I'm also not a fan of the chrome rear bumper. However, I can live with the non-color matched front.

I'm happy I went with sr5. Planning on putting in after mark wheels and suspension, so didn't want to pay extra for the TRD stuff I'd be swapping out anyways. Only thing I wish I had was the factory locker, but really not a need for that right now and can add an ARB later when I do have a need.

Got my SR5 a few ago. Couldn't justify the extra's on the OR or the Sport so I went with the SR5, which came with a 4 X 4 and a long bed. My truck did have the Entune system installed so I have the navigation and messaging capabilities. I may go to slightly bigger tires (265) and maybe add a sub for the sound system; other than that, I have been happy with the truck.

I like the SR5 model Tacoma's and saves money off the TRD packages. My 08 SR5 has been nothing but perfect!
